I'm sure nobody's brother in law is getting rich off that deal. Why send Americans aid when you can siphon off a big payday by building random crap in Lima?

FEMA is there to distribute aid, food, water, etc.
If you want #### done, do it yourself.
I will say I have been impressed with Duke power. They were dropping power poles by helicopter because bridges were out.

Well, it takes money for cleanup. To get money, FEMA has to have the money and they have to come out in force. The illegals got the money and FEMA didn't show up in force for a couple weeks. The Government took a week to get the military there from Fort Liberty for a week which is about 4 hours away but soldiers from the same Fort had boots on the ground in Haiti within 48 hours after an earthquake there. Here's the reason.

FEMA isn’t responsible for the clean up, or are you going to ignore the whole point of this thread?
Finding one ####### doesn’t mean it’s systemic, they’re literal people just doing their jobs, and for that ####### you linked, there’s one on the other side, so what is your point?

The ignorance just continues. FEMA can provide the funding to state governments for cleanup. Well they could if they had not spent most of the funding on illegals and wanted to help. Look at Public Assistance.

FEMA provides reimbursement, they're not responsible for cleanup, are you seriously going to keep going with this?
"Well they could if they had not spent most of the funding on illegals and wanted to help." - provide a single source that they haven't provided reimbursement for any of Helene, because ####### you're the ignorant one here.

FEMA provides supplemental grants to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, as well as certain types of private non-profits, for debris removal. This is particularly crucial after events like hurricanes, tornadoes, or wildfires. The cleanup can involve removing debris from public spaces or, under specific conditions, from private property when it's deemed to be in the public interest, like when debris threatens public health or economic recovery.
Huh.

has provided $518MM in clean-up grants for Helene...why are blaming FEMA that stuff is not cleaned-up yet?
Heck, given the level of clean-up needed over such a wide area, is it even reasonable to be complaining about this "soon"?

FEMA are enablers of evil. They pay illegals to come to our country and r***e and pillage our women and children. They are killers released from jails and insane asylums.
Trump and Homan are going to round those pieces of human trash up and send them packing. I can’t wait to see the oceans of liberal tears when justice is served.

you're an uninformed idiot.
First...FEMA does what Congress tells them to do. The Shelter and Services Program (SSP) and any other mission was given to FEMA by Congress. And "they" don't pay illegals to come to our country. The immigrants are eligible for these services after they're released by DHS/CBP. They are largely people here seeking asylum.
Now...I don't want my understanding of the program to be confused with support of it. I think the whole asylum system is a mess and is being exploited. I support a strong border and less people being released into the country, etc... But, the claim that these specific people are "They are killers released from jails and insane asylums" is an unsupported claim by Trump and after years of not being able to support the claim, has to be considered a lie at this point. Plus, you're confusing those folks crossing the border illegally and "sneeking" into our country with migrant asylum seekers.
I'm all for rounding up people that are here illegally and criminals (as a first step).
With all of that said, you're too old to have a 5 yead old's understanding of this issue.
Also, before you say it...because you probably believe it...FEMA did not run out of money for hurricane victims because of anything to do with immigration (it actually didn't run out of money at all).

I know it isn’t helping you now, but the good guys are on the way and will be in office late January. All the evil and wrong doing that democrats have done to innocent people in the aftermath of the hurricane, is going to come back to having them. Trump will not let this slip by.
Justice is coming January 2025.

The very first question is who in the local Government (i.e. the Mayor) is
Nov 18, 2024, 7:39 PM
|
|
coordinating a clean-up effort of their town with the State of NC. Why aren't they providing updates to the local citizenry as to how it is going to progress? The very next question is where the fudge is Governor Roy Cooper and the NC Department of Safety - Emergency Management (the State agency responsible for disaster recovery)?
I'm all for beating the shid out of FEMA when they deserve it but there are two levels of leadership and disaster relief in front of FEMA in this instance.
Governor Cooper's leadership during this whole thing has been abysmal. He is rarely seen and has not shown that he has the State agencies energized or engaged in any kind of coordinated effort with regular progress updates to the public. Worse than that he has done nothing to inform the public of an overall plan for how they are attacking the tremendous recovery effort in Western NC. It is basically radio silence as Cooper sits on his lazy a.ss in the Governor's mansion waxing poetic about the end of his unaccomplished tenure....

FEMA is basically a piggy bank and paper filer, really almost nothing more
Our hurricane debris in the Orlando area was just picked up Saturday, about like expected
All municipalities in Florida have disaster debris pick up contracts because we are in hurricane alley. Our local governments pay for these with reserves, some paid back quickly by state grants and/or reserves, the rest is paid by FEMA years (yes years) later after such voluminous amounts of paper shuffling that we have to pay specialized companies (consultants sucking on the government teet) to make sure FEMA will actually pay because the reporting requirements are so ridiculous
I can't imagine why these rural NC counties would ever have prearranged contracts for these things in the same manner that we don't contract with snow plow companies
Whomever posted that the state is letting Western NC down is far more accurate than complaining about FEMA. We are Florida, we've known for decades they're useless
