Any word on the ACCs response on the officiating in the Pitt game?

Obviously, no one really knows what targeting is, so I give them a pass on that

However, I expect some sort of explanation on the hands to the face call and how it was that a flag was dropped 2 minutes after the play happened. I believe the ACC owes the coaches, players and fans and explanation.

Never seen anything like it before. Is this the new way of doing things? Did the officials use replay? Was is called in from Charlotte? Did they look up and see it on the Jumbotron? What’s the freaking deal?

HA, the ACC address issues that impact Clemson? That’s never been a thing.

For someone have sat in the stands watching our tigers for 67 years I can tell you youngsters one thing. The ACC has always viewed Clemson as a red headed step child. I apologize to all you red headed folks and step children in advance as this is an expression used by us old folks. The ACC has never respected Clemson when we were a little rogue under Coach Danny or now when Wake Forest and Clemson are the only ones following the rules. We hardly ever get the 50/50 calls. The Charlotte in the closet review committee buries us every chance they get. You old guys remember when our conference during Danny’s years gave us an extra year of probation over what the NCAA did because they did not like Coach Danny whipping their butts every year. The officiating at Pitt and Louisville were atrocious against us. They don’t want us in their ACC championship game presently. The only way you deal with them is to have the best players and coaches and beat their butts into the ground. 😁🙋‍♂️

Official reviews should be open for all to hear/see. This way we can get some integrity back into the game.

The ACC officials have sucked for a long time; I was at the Miami/Duke game in Durham and after a 10 minute review they gave the win to Miami. There is a photo clearly showing the Miami player with the ball in his hand and knee on the ground and they "missed" it...after 10 minutes. You can't tell me tha they didn't want Duke to win that game.

the hands to the face/illegal use of hands call that wasn't called until after Narduzzi took a timeout to b!tched and moaned about it to the officials for 10 minutes. Penalties in college football are not reviewable unless they could result in an ejection. It's no different than a facemask penalty that wasn't called.

And how do you miss the illegal motion penalty when the TE clearly told on himself, and then continued to move at the same time the WR was moving.

I have never seen anything like that in all my years of watching college football. Apparently, these incompetent ACC official are permitted to just make up new rules or ignore existing rules at their discretion.

the tight end standing there and telling on himself was quite comical..althought jaw dropping and head shaking, call wise...

and the targeting would not have been targeting if Sammy had not dropped his head and lead with the crown of his helmet....this is just old fashioned spearing which will get a targeting call everytime, the rule is meant to protect the would be tackler as well as the offensive player....

The ACC is going to have to pay officials more to keep these JV officials off the field. How many holding calls on Parker and Woods do they miss each game? They’re riding our receiver down the field in the 4th and 2 against VT. The officiating has got steadily worse on us for some reason.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The holding no calls have gotten completely out of control...

even when it is blatantly obvious.

There was one particular instance during the Pitt game when a Pitt offensive lineman grabbed either Parker or Capehart, threw him to the ground, and then laid on top of him so he couldn't get up.

The official is staring directly at the play and made no call. Unbelievable!

You are exactly right. If I remember correctly, NFL officials were seasonal employees at one time. They are now full time. They STILL make atrocious calls but can be benched for the next game and excluded from calling playoff games.

That is correct. The officials "claimed" that they had been discussing it all along and the review had nothing to do with them dropping the flag ....... yeah right. Poor officiating in total!

and it's not limited to not just football either. The biggest problem is there's no accountability. The league knows it's bad yet they do nothing about it.

I think most of us agree on the targeting call. Hope Sammy has learned from it. What blew everyone’s mind was the Super ACC Delay hands to face no-call turned into a call.

to play. The entire "targeting mindset" as an "infraction" is nothing short of all of this other liberal/marxist BS to make the use of words and by extension, the "exclusion of words" a way to control and abuse our freedom.

When I played football as a youngster, my coach told me to "lower my head and plant it right in the center of the chest" of the ball carrier. That was the proper way to tackle, or so I was told. I understand that times have changed, but using the very subjective ruling called "targeting" as a penalty in this extremely violent game that is decided by a few guys who could very easily be partisan hacks is simply an abuse of the rules.

Sammy Brown's "Targeting call" was him hitting the QB clearly in the chest, far below any head or neck area, as is required for a "targeting" call. Clearly BS, IMHO! The TV commentators didn't even discuss it and left the viewers, wondering ###? It was weird...

Then, the other call, was even worse. The Pitt 6'6" QB pulled the ball in to his chest, after faking a throw, and our defender...raising his right arm to block the throw, with his arm in full motion, raked across the QB's helmet...duh! That was (eventually) called a penalty, but is was not! It was an unavoidable result of the way QB managed the play.

Football is a very, very, very violent sport. And that's the way we like it.

Go Tigers!

The way Sammy tackled, with his head down, has paralyzed people. That was a good call and hopefully a lesson Sammy will remember so he doesn’t ruin his career.

Just because the medical knowledge and rules were different “when you were a youngster” that doesn’t mean that the rule is wrong now.

It was ok to smoke back then too…anywhere anytime. Things change, in this case for the better health wise.

Well then let's just play "Touch Football" so we can minimize any sort of injury that might occur? Right? Sorry, pal, but people have been paralyzed from falling down in the bowling alley...should we shut all the bowling alleys down? Either play football or stop playing football, but stop trying to "micro-manage" all of the possible and potential injuries. Life has it's consequences... blah, blah, blah...my big white foot up your ###! Go Tigers!

That’s just a stupid response, pal. Preventing spearing because it compresses the neck of the tackler is nowhere close to “touch football”. If he kept his eyes up on that hit, it would have been textbook and violent.
