On a side note, one of the most interesting shows I watch is Finding Your Roots on PBS.

https://www.pbs.org/show/finding-your-roots/

They trace peoples ancestry as far as they can and uncover things. For the black guests, slavery is often found in their history. Many times outside of the US too. And they also uncover that quite a few black guests owned slaves as well. It's crazy how much they dig up and what crazy path people's ancestors took to get where they are today.

Her slave-owning ancestor was a white Irish guy who owned a sugar plantation in Jamaica. There were some black people who did own slaves, but in many cases it was their own family members that they bought to free them from actual slavery. Some places didn't allow slaves to be freed or at least made it difficult, so that was the next best option.

That is incorrect.

Thousands of blacks owned slaves, and most were not family members. And there are many records of them treating them just a poorly as white slaves owners did.

Watch a few episodes of Finding Your Roots and you'll be very surprised. It's purely facts, and none of the BS spin.

I said many, not all. Thousands is practically nothing compared to the number of white people who owned slaves. In any case, her ancestor was white.

And because of that, let’s ignore the blacks that had enslaved other blacks.

The black slave owners, after all, were victims of systemic racism; therefore, their descendants deserve reparations too.

Did I get this right, or am I to be sent to Hilary’s re-education institute for reprogramming?

Really think about it. How exactly does a white slave owner end up in someone's family tree? Did they meet on bumble? Do you think he took his slave out to a nice seafood dinner?

committed by all of our ancestors that may have had a generational impact on the victims' descendants, and compensatae them accordingly. Murders, rapes, kidnappings, theft, fraud, bullying that caused real emotional damage, anything that may have had a lasting impact, no matter how minimal, on future generations.

I don't support reparations. I'd just like us to focus on making sure young people have equal opportunities to succeed in life regardless of who their parents are, by ensuring a minimum standard of living and guaranteed access to basic things like healthcare, education, and housing. Apparently that's socialism, even though most of the developed world already has those things and all of those countries still have capitalist economies.

You got it. That’s socialism.

Find those socialistic countries that get neither direct aid or indirect aid (such as protection from America’s military or from unfair-to-America trade agreements) and get back to me.

Those American-subsidized countries could not afford their socialism if America didn’t subsidize them.
