Should Ohio St. have scored that last TD or should

They have showed more class and just downed the ball?
Personally, I would have just downed it. The game was already over.

I would have taken a knee but ask the South Dakota Coyotes (62-13), Wyoming Cowboys (48-14), Stanford Cardinals (45-16), Utah Utes (51-27), Colorado Buffaloes (44-10), Oregon State Beavers (47-19), and the Arizona Wildcats (51-13) that question and see what kind of answer you get...
I recall them running the ball into the end zone with minimal time left in the game in all of these games...I would have taken a knee personally, but no, Oregon got what they deserved

Something they failed to do all game. Perhaps if they had actually tackled the first three quarters we wouldn't have to ask ourselves this question.

IMO Knee Oregon stopped calling time outs. They conceded the game at that point. Piling on serves no purpose other than being a ####.

Was asleep by that time. Did OSU attempt any passes on their final drive? If so then maybe a little bush leagu though I don't know the whole context (how much time left on final drive, starting position, etc).
All things being equal -square up and run the ball. Make the ducks stop em.

Oregon had timeouts, so you keep RUNNING it until the clock
Jan 13, 2015, 4:32 PM

is gone or you score if they can't stop you when they know what's coming. You don't take the knee until the timeouts are gone and you know you can kill the clock.

Different question. Even if you have pulled the starters
Jan 13, 2015, 4:40 PM
|

you still run the ball. We did not take a knee for half of the fourth quarter. We ran it. But personally I would not pull the starters against Oregon for the championship given how quickly they can normally score.

Oregon called a timeout about 4 or 5 runs prior to them scoring. They stopped calling time outs.

They stopped calling timeouts? I keep hearing this. How is Meyer supposed to know they wouldn't call TO on next two downs and have to give them ball back?
Was helfrich waving white flags? It's the NC game, why would you lace anything to doubt.
A lot of whining.

Well common sense for one says that if the other coach isnt using time outs to stop the clock for about 4 runs in a row his is waving the white flag.
Also kid no one is whining it is called having a conversation.

Well, does he have 6 timeouts? Many coaches don't want to use the last ones until the last possible seconds.
Please see the ravens patriots game this weekend. Patriots took 3 knees, then Balt used final timeout and forced them to punt and get Hail Mary chance.
Did Balt give up because they didn't use timeout after 1st down?

Yep and it was either going to be thrown from the 5 yard line after Oregon went for it on 4th. Or it was going to be thrown after a kick off after Ohio State kicks a FG to go up 3 possessions.
I am not sure what would be more impressive a 95 yard 15 point Hail Mary or a however far 18 point hail mary.

The situations arent even remotely comparable.... Ohio State just got a 1st down with 1 minute 40 seconds on the clock. Oregon is down by 15 not 7 like in your example. There was no way Oregon was going to win that is why they stopped trying to stop the clock. If Oregon was trying to win they would have tried to stop the clock before it ticked all the way down to 28 seconds (Time on the clock of the Touch Down). Those are the facts of the situation.
You seriously are showing a complete lack of understanding of the game right now.
Edit: lets also add in the fact that a hail mary isnt even in the cards in this situation. Even if you use your time outs to stop the clock and force a 4th down Ohio State is going to do one of two things with 30 seconds on the clock....
A) Go for it on 4th down forcing you to drive 90 plus yards down 15.
B) Kick a chip shot FG to go up 3 possessions.

it was more embarrassing to me when teams quit trying than it was when they kept scoring.
And it's not like he ran a triple reverse pass to score the last TD.
Much ado about nothing.
