I believe that is a big differentiator between, say, Clemson and Georgia, at this point.

I’m just sharing my observations. I see weight gains without tge commensurate muscle mass gains in some instances, and little gains in others.

Nope. They have better athletes (overall, as in numbers) in the trenches. That's about all I saw.

No they are getting OL (the biggest argument)

That are mostly bigger and already more developed. They get plug and play guys period. We get 1 every two years. If it’s the strength staff then why is the DL and Linebacker's as physical and strong as anyone else?

Five years ago, we beat the breaks off the best SEC team in the history of CFB so they actually quit trying by the beginning of the 4th quarter. Three years ago, we held our ground in the trenches against the eventual national champion Bulldogs. Our S&C staff or methods have not changed (outside of the normal year to year updates) since those games. Somehow you want to pin the issue on the constant instead of the variables?

I disagree. They just have better talent.

I don’t think our strength and conditioning is something to be concerned about.
We just need to recruit better and by that I mean we need to stop with all these last minute offers that are fillers and we also need to attack the portal and get 2-3 guys every year that can truly contribute right away.

Our OL is weak and the amount of injuries over the past 3 years isn't normal.

I don't know what Batson and his team does so I can't say one way or another, but I do know strength and conditioning is like everything else, it can get stale. Without variations to the routine, injuries can occur when the body and muscle groups are put into situations for which they are not trained.

Batson is or was a Westside system advocate under the late Louie Simmons. Basically a powerlifting based approach ( lifting with the goal of increasing totals in bench, squat and deadlift, which are slow, grinding lifts). Not sure if the UGA weight room is more geared toward Olympic weightlifting (######, clean and jerk) to develop more explosiveness and speed or if they too are more pure strength based. Lots of advocates out there for both approaches in college weight rooms.

I would think there has to be some combination of the 2 methods with other variations incorporated.

Everything changed when Batson had his heart issues three years ago. I don't know what changed, or why. I just know that S&C changed at that time like someone flipped a switch. Injuries increased at the same time, as well and have continued to this day.

I believe dbwhite87 is saying Clemson's strength and conditioning coaches & program may be great, it's just hard to tell because half the team is always injured.

UGA just signed 5 OLs from the 2024 class which average 6'7" and 365 lbs. I hate it but I also envy their ability to pull in this kind of talent.
