I dont think its a massive stretch to think that Dabo could retire

In 5 years. That would be 20 years at Clemson as head coach and 26 years total coaching at Clemson.
I’m thinking there’s not a ton of coaches who have coached 26 years at one school. And with the way things are trending in College Football, it wouldn’t just totally shock me.
However, I think Dabo knows he is called for coaching. So, I believe he’s gonna continue as long as he’s pretty healthy. But, I don’t think it’s outlandish to suggest that he could call it quits after 26 years.

It isn't outlandish at all and it comes down to his priorities and what he wants to do with his life post-coaching, and when. I think a lot may also depend on how much more college football changes and what that entails in the future.

How many times over the next 5 years will Dabo threaten to leave?

Either because he doesn’t like changes in college football or doesn’t like how fans behave?

You do realize without our success in football under Dabo, and all the money, resources and attention that has brought to our university, no one would give a rat's patoot about investing in the basketball program, right?

Despite riding the coattails of Dabos tremendous success at Clemson

Brad Brownell could only produce two great teams in the last 14 years. I would hate to see what things would have been if Dabo were not here putting Clemson in the national spotlight.

But it’s also not a massive stretch to think he may win another national championship in that time either.

Way more a chance he retires within 5 years than he wins a national

championship. They're SO difficult and rare to win. Can have great great teams without winning one.

I wouldn't say that the time frame there is out of the question at all. I was somewhat surprised that he didn't retire and go into ministry or similar full time after Natty #2.
He seems to still be on a mission here, though. He wants to be the program that other schools model themselves after. Prior to the portal free agency landscape that's happened, we kinda almost were. With this change ongoing, he wants Clemson to light the way through and help lead the game to a better future, one that still values the education and collegiate side of things for the 97% that won't have pro careers after.

Would not surprise me if this is his last year. He loves being head coach and all the “other” things that allows him to do - and I imagine he and Kathleen give away more than 1/2 his income - but he is bumping up moral dilemmas more frequently than ever. Reaching point time to make mark elsewhere. He is a smart man.

I was just pointing that Joe Paterno coached 25 years AFTER his last national championship only to be let go for not noticing and dealing with someone else's sex crime. Dinking and dunking along with a bunch of 3 and 4 loss seasons. He turned in a conference championship once in a while to keep this interesting, but even had a 1-7 season. Bobby Bowden had to become totally senile to get let go at FSU at 80 years old. Again there is a coach that won two national titles for FSU and put them on the map. That fact that the school stood by him rather than looking for the next flavor of the month is WHY FSU is still considered a football power and highly desired school to coach at to this day.
So Joe Paterno 25 years after his last national title. Bobby Bowden 17 years after his last national title. But Dabo 5 seasons after his last title 4 seasons after his last playoff appearance and only 3 since his last ACC title should retire or be let go?
So Dabo retiring in 5 years? It could happen, but 15 more years would not be surprising either. Once you've won a couple of national championships and as many ACC championships as Dabo has losing the job is pretty hard to do.

Honestly he needs to get out now. This is so contrary to his coaching style and what motivates him I just can't see much success.
