hasn't played anyone worth a rip...
I'm a proud Clemson alumnus, I understand this is a Clemson sports forum, but does it really make you less of a fan to admit that other programs are actually pretty good..?
I can't go one day on here without reading about the big 10 and sec being mediocre... but have you looked at the acc? Outside of Clemson and myhammy the acc is a joke.
Can we pump the brakes on the smack talk until we make the playoffs and win a game or two? uga and uva are the only teams we've played with a winning record

However, even you slip into it. I am one that thinks good fans don't contantly insult other schools by always making their names into something derogatory. You can just as esily type Miami...but you take the extra mental time to figureout something insulting to type.
It the same stuff identity politics are made out of. Take one person's actions and apply it to the entire group. It is the height of ignorance.
The truth is that a good fan is a good person to everyone all of the time. Its actually hard to be a good fan, because if you speak out about bad behavior the people that hide behind hind insults come out of the woodwork.

I think the "anger" is not so much at any particular program (except maybe for SC and UGA) but the media and certain fan bases portrayal of "great by association". Because a program is in a conference that is "perceived" as great that makes them better. That being said, because the "acc is a joke", the same logic is applied by those same media outlets and fan bases that Clemson is somehow less of a program.
I for one, do not buy into this mythology.

And say 34-3 and 44-19-4 or w/e? Boys will be boys. Kids say the darndest things.
Ok, we'll do better. Colorado is doing ok this year with 5 wins over teams with losing records except the one FCS school. Glad to see them making progress. How's that?
But the Buffaloes are premise for an "outlier switcheroo" bc of their heavy portal usage, whether anyone was bashing them last year for that or not, or bashing them for only that.

I would say generally the vibe here over the last couple of weeks is that Pitt, VT and USCjr will be decently tough games.
Generally outside of our conference the sentiment here has been Illinois, Penn State, ND and LSU are probably overrated, some more than others.

Their defense has been playing much better.
Illinois, Penn State, and ND are all kind of in the same boat for me, just to varying degrees. I think all 3 have very good defenses and suspect offenses that may not be able to throw the ball when they play a team that can stop the run. Penn State's passing game does look a bit better this year though - probably the best it's been since McSorley graduated in 2017.

After watching what Pitt did to Syracuse last night, I'm a bit concerned about going up there and playing them. They have a good defense and great DBs. Their offense is suspect, so I think it'll be a close game.
The only time I call a team overrated is when they have played absolutely no one, yet the media is building them up as an elite team. The first time they play a team with a pulse, they usually fall apart; Texas this year is a perfect example.

Preseason I picked Clemson to win the ACC and make the playoffs. I still think both those happen. I also picked them to lose to UGA to the effect of 34-17. (And was called "insane" for suggesting Clemson would not hold the Dawgs to under 30 points....looking at you Pioneer).
I also think it's fair to question how well Clemson would compete in a playoff game, based on the schedule so far.

I didnt excpect clemson to roll out the same tired, lame offense as in 2023 either. Not sure why they waited till week 2 to play the better players and open the play book, but oh well.

I've seen a lot of complaining about the better WRs being held back in the UGA game. If that's true, that's on Dabo. What was he doing all off-season? Not evaluating WR talent? These are the WR numbers from game 1. Cade only completed one pass over 20 yards all game. Yikes.
REC YDS AVG TD LONG 6 76 12.7 0 36 Antonio Williams 3 26 8.7 0 19 Jake Briningstool 3 25 8.3 0 16 Tyler Brown 1 7 7.0 0 7 TJ Moore 1 5 5.0 0 5 Bryan Wesco 1 5 5.0 0 5 Olsen Patt-Henry 1 1 1.0 0 1 Cole Turner 2 -3 -1.5 0 2 Phil Mafah 18 142 7.9 0 36
I wish the stats showed how many attempts each WR had. Are the low numbers from Moore and Wesco because of playcalling, them sitting on the bench, or UGA's DBs?

The 2 freshman barely seen the field. I cannot answer to the why but I believe it was just the thought of having no experience. (Just guessing) It would have helped but not in the sense that them not playing caused us to lose. Clemson decided to pack it in at half, and I’m sure Ga. had a say in that no doubt but it definitely was not the same 2 teams that played in the first half. I have noticed so far this season that Ga has started slow on occasion and Clemson needed to capitalize on that and continuously shot themselves in the foot. I did not expect to win against that roster but I thought it would have been more in line with how that first half went.

UR mediocre efforts at "pumping the brakes" are appreciated

Actually, they were kind of feeble', but thanks for the effort.
A lot of fans of other schools think UGA is actually pretty good, tho inconsistent, but it's hard to acknowledge with all the bad behavior that gets brushed aside and the overbearing, sometimes obnoxious, fans. This is my feeble effort in return.

The response was only feeble if you think I was trying to "pump the brakes." I wasn't. We can talk football all you want. You want to get into the usual nonsense here or the personal insults, I can always play then 34-3 card, or Dabo's record against Georgia (or Kirby), or Clemson's record against Georgia.

Because some just are. There are some every season. It’s college football and part of the fun is evaluating teams we watch and comparing it to what ESECPN says.
I believe we are currently over rated but have seen much improvement from week 1, even though it has been against inferior teams. We will be tested in the next few weeks and we will know more, but our ranking is just my opinion which at the end of the day means absolutely nothing. With the new playoff system I’m not seeing the importance of polls at this point in the season.

I am going to suggest that perhaps human beings prefer emotionalism, tribalism, and hyperbole over evidence, rationalism, and accuracy. And not just in football.
