Seems like so many people WANT to be outraged by the Olympics

Why? I have no clue. From the crazy amount of outrage over the few minutes of the opening ceremony’s portrayal of a Greek god to people leaving ridiculous “that’s a dude” comments on Katie Ledecky and Ilona Maher’s social medias. And yesterday an embarrassing day of misinformed outrage over a boxer from an Islamic country who competed in the last Olympics without fanfare.
Meanwhile on the actual arenas and fields of competition there’s been tons of great stories and feel good moments. From Americans and non Americans alike. And none of our athletes have done anything political. Focus has been on the sports.
It’s been great fun to watch in an iconic world famous setting.
But you can go ahead and enjoy your outrage if you want!

Watching a biological male assault a biological female on TV isn’t my definition of “wanting” to be outraged. Think that’s called common sense. Eventually the day will come when it’s more widespread.
Still, I think having a testosterone boost should be considered an advantage when competing against individuals who do not have as much testosterone and thus should not be able to compete in Olympics.

I agree that a biological male shouldn’t be competing against a biological female.
However, it seems that we need more information about the supposed biological male. Is it definitely a biological male that is now a trans female? Is it a biological female with PCOS? Is it a biological female that has used PEDs?
These questions need to be answered before we should express outrage at the Olympics. After all, what is our outrage based on if we don’t fully understand the situation?
Let’s say for the sake of discussion that it is a trans male and the IOC allowed it. I absolutely disagree with that and won’t watch it. But I will absolutely watch the other Olympic sports that interest me.

Thus is why I said even a female who has an unnaturally large testosterone boost should still not be able to compete against other females who do not possess the same.
I appreciate your very inclusive rhetoric describing my life as “idiotic.” Unfortunately, I don’t identify as idiotic, therefore you have mis-adjectified me.

Having an advantage does not necessitate winning every time. Boxing is certainly physical but it’s also about knowing when to land hits.
However, having a much higher level of testosterone is going to have a large impact against competition that does not. It’s important to note that Khelif is 37-9 and has not lost since 2022. I get it’s not her fault she has a rare genetic condition, but this is clearly an advantage that is not only NOT given to all other females in the arena, but it’s actually IMPOSSIBLE to replicate without either having the same genetic condition or taking testosterone boosters, which would be illegal. Not sure how that is considered “fair.”

In other words, u and your crowd ain’t fooling anyone. Good luck!

I don't understand the weird stuff that happened during the opening ceremony.
It's a sporting event with the world's greatest amateur athletes (mostly) competing once every four years. I try to focus on the competitions and enjoy cheering for my country's athlete's.
There has been some good background stories on NBC this year and the time difference has made it difficult to watch many events live.
I think the outrage bleeds over from daily life. I blame social media and politics...
I'm older and don't really care what people think about me. I don't do much social media so I've been able to filter a lot of the anger and emotion-based arguments that are perpetuated.
It looks like we are establishing our Global dominance at the Olympics again this year!
Go Team USA!

Going around the city and bringing in lots of French history. The weather put a damper on it.
And the weirdness with the Dionysus actor was just something you have to chalk up them being French. They like to have a bit of weirdness in their art/films. Nothing satanic or inherently evil about it though like I was seeing all over the place

You keep repeating the same "Dionysus" story like the sheep you're meant to be. I'm not a Christian and could clearly see the mockery. 95% of my Christian friends were pretty upset over it. It was a devisive move no doubt and uncalled for. I can understand why people were upset and not wanting to watch, it's their right. I'm personally sick of having the trannie agenda force fed every time I turn around. Especially on TigerNet.

Seine". Trying to say it was something else proves that it was intentional. I am disgusted by what was put into the opening ceremony of the Olympic games and have not and will not watch any of it. When you say "oh well" and continue to accept this degeneracy, you find yourself in the very position we are in today.
It is unreal that a swimmer who was not able to compete as a male became the top "female" swimmer and now women's Basketball and Boxing have been infiltrated by biological males. This is physical abuse at a level never seen before and the left cheers it on! The IOC statement about this boxer only claims that 'she' has female on 'her' passport so end of the story. Women are being abused and I for one will not stand for it!

I loved seeing Simone Biles win all-around gold.
I also really liked seeing Sunni Lee come back from two kidney diseases to win bronze.
Seeing the men’s gymnastics team win bronze was awesome.
Watching Katie Ledecky win more medals and become arguably the best female swimmer ever has been fun.
I’ve also enjoyed watching Summer McIntosh swim for Canada.
The track and field events are just getting started, but I’m excited to see some of the athletes, especially the 100m and 200m events.

It was based on Bijlert’s The Feast of the Gods, a painting showing the Greek gods partying and celebrating.
https://www.artsy.net/artwork/jan-hermansz-van-bijlert-le-festin-des-dieux-the-feast-of-the-gods
This tableaux of the opening ceremony is clearly based on this, as it pays homage to the ancient Greeks (where the Olympics originated).
The blue guy was Dionysys, the Greek god of wine and festivity. It clearly wasn’t Jesus.
Also, the number of people in attendance more closely matches The Feast of the Gods, not The Last Supper.

I gave you plenty of evidence that it had nothing ti do with The Last Supper or Christianity. The choreographer as well as many others involved have also said that it had nothing to do with it, and also apologized if it offended anyone.
Yet you think you know better than everyone and have decided against all of this evidence that it was an attack on Christianity, conservatives, and you personally. I feel sorry for you.

I'm a Christian, and for a moment, was rolling my eyes over the opening ceremony. But to be outraged by the fact that the world does not share my faith is a gargantuan waste of time.
Fact is, if I'm rightly interpreting scripture, I can expect the opposite of that to happen, and should respond to it as Jesus did.
But it's also not unreasonable to think folks might be scandalized by the opening ceremony, or the idea of a woman with men's chromosomes and hormones pummeling a woman without those things, or that the Olympics joined a long, exhausting list of trusted institutions that have embraced a politicized agenda that many consider a direct, frontal assault on all they hold dear, and base their lives upon.

I just read where someone summed up the Olympics by saying "Wokeness equals Weakness". I agree. Any sport that allows a man to pummel a woman is sheer stupidity.

Consider this. Any sport that allows any person to pummel another person is sheer stupidity. How 'bout dat?

I agree with T I P the games have been great so far and Paris is an awesome place to host the games. This afternoon, we watched the Men's 10k race and with a great run by Grant Fisher, the US won the first medal in the event in over 50 years. The stadium was packed and the crowd was just going nuts the last few laps. The best practice is to just not read or listen to what are saying about the greatest event in the world.

BS, lets see a baseball player hop in the pool and beat Katie Ledecky. Just because the sports aren't mainstream doesn't meant he athletes aren't elite.

been offended by so much stuff in my long life, that I've grown a tortoise shell for endurance!
Perhaps, most offensive to me is the image I see daily, when I look in my mirror, and recoil in revulsion at what once was a smooth young face now etched with age lines and a shock of gray/white hair.
My own great fortune is that I rarely tune into sports outside of our football season, saving my excitement and angst for our Tigers. Thus, I will say I plead "No Contest" in regards to the Olympics..probably the best for my remaining sanity!

respect for the female sex should be too. And as Christians, we are tired of being attacked on every front now days. It is as simple as that. Unlike the liberal side who have to create false racial attacks like Mr. Smollett and others, the attacks on Christians are real and often. And they come in a multitude of forms.

Spud I gotta say it's been a bummer watching you get more and more politically extreme over the years.
I think there's a strong case of people seeing what they want to see and ignoring the actual facts with both Olympic "situations". The Algerian boxer has been beaten many times through her career including the Olympics in Tokyo, and is in no way trans.

The fake outrage about EVERYTHING these days is exhausting. And the people questioning Maher's gender are disgusting.
