Swinney gives update on Mike Williams

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney talked to the media for a preview of the first day of his team's spring practice on Monday afternoon and was asked about the progression of star wide receiver Mike Williams.

Swinney said that Williams is cleared for all football activities and will go through all football drills. However, he will not be tackled to the ground and will wear a green jersey.

"He is going to do everything, Swinney said. "We are just not going to tackle him to the ground. He is going to do all the 1 on 1's, all the skelly, all the team pass. He is going to do everything we do. We are just not going to tackle him so we when we go scrimmage he will not scrimmage. He will be in a green jersey. He looks great. He is doing everything and he is cleared to do everything. If we were playing this spring he could play, but really we just want to kind of get his confidence back where it needs to be and when we get back in camp he will be full go."

Williams suffered a neck injury in the first game against Wofford and missed the remainder of the 2015-2016 season. He has 79 catches for 1366 yards and ten touchdowns for his career.

Swinney also said that Korrin Wiggins is recovery nicely from this torn ACL but not ready to return yet.
