We can land anywhere from 3 to 6. If we win against Syracuse, we'll get at least 4th (3rd if UNC loses against Duke). It gets weird, if we lose. But, we could be anywhere from 3rd to 6th if we lose.
With a win and a UNC win over Duke: Clemson is a 4-seed. UNC wins the 3-way tiebreaker among Clemson and Duke in records versus each other for the 2-seed, and then Duke takes the 3-seed because of its head-to-head record against Clemson.
Scenarios with a loss to Syracuse: The UNC-Duke (in Durham), Virginia Tech-Miami (in Coral Gables) and Louisville-NC State (in Raleigh) games all play a factor in Clemson’s seeding in this case. The bottom-line here is that a Virginia Tech win over Miami would kick Clemson out of the double-bye race and a Miami win could move the Tigers as a high as a 3-seed with a win.
With a Duke win, Miami win and Louisville win: Clemson is a 3-seed.
With a Duke win, Miami win and NC State win: Clemson is a 4-seed.
With a UNC win, Miami win and NC State win: Clemson is a 4-seed.
With a UNC win, Miami win and Louisville win: Clemson is a 4-seed.
With a Duke win, Virginia Tech win and Louisville win: Clemson is a 5-seed.
With a UNC win, Virginia Tech win and Louisville win: Clemson is a 5-seed.
With a Duke win, Virginia Tech win and NC State win: Clemson is a 6-seed.
With a UNC win, Virginia Tech win and NC State win: Clemson is a 6-seed.

Miami, if they win we should be 4th. If they win we would hold head to head if we lose, and in a 3 way tie with NC State, or a 4 way tie with UNC we would hold round robin records over everyone except for Miami.

Short answer, if we lose, a Duke win can get us a 3 or 4 seed

in the game that should finish around our tip.
The constant in your 8 scenarios is the winner of the Miami-VT game.

If Duke wins and we win, we're a 3 regardless of other outcomes.

So we need Miami to win - as insurance?

Looks like if we lose to the cuse the only way we get a 3 or 4 is for Miami to win. If they do we're in the top 4. If they don't win no matter what happens with the other games we're out. Correct?

That's correct, simplest two answers are win or Miami win.

Either of those scenarios locks us in at 4 at the worst.
We will know one half of that equation shortly before, or after, our tip.

I believe that if Miami beats VT it doesn't matter what happens we will be the 4. We would hold the head to head with them if NC State loses to Louisville, and would have the better combined record if it was a 3 way tie with Miami and NC State.
Pretty simply, if we win we are top 4, if we lose and Miami wins we are top 4. There may be another scenario depending on what UNC does as well that could throw a wrench in things, but the two simplest ways are win or Miami win.

Just beat Syracuse ... just do it.

Do it and everything else falls into place. 3rd seed or 4th seed doesn't really matter all that much.
Just get that double bye. Get our guys some rest and recuperation before the NCAA starts.
This team has potential to do some really good things post season, but what they don't need is to have to battle through any extra games in the ACC tournament prior to moving on the Big Dance. Nor do they need to risk a "bad loss" in the ACC either.
Just beat Syracuse ... secure the double bye ... do the best you can in the ACC ... then move on to what's really important.
Go Tigers ... Beat Cuse!!!!!
