Why can't we have a civil discussion?

Apr 29, 2012, 10:39 PM

Everyone gets all personal and starts speaking in general terms. Both sides have good points. Everyone isn't always going to agree but if someone doesn't agree it doesn't mean they are a coot (most of the time). Neither side is going to have their mind changed by a message board, it's the play on the field that will change fans opinions so lets at least stop ripping each other.

I agree, there are some people who are either just in disagreement or they're USC fans and offer a differing opinion and the first thing someone does is vote them down and insult them.

I like to have civilized sports conversations. Rivalries get intense but there's a difference between an intense rivalry and just being a D-bag, in my mind.

When we win, the "where are you Leggett bashers" and "told you so" posters come out. When we lose, the Leggett bashers come out. Always something.

That's how it is with Dabo, that's how it was with TB.

again. Does that answer your question? Long, long ago, on this place, there used to be a genuine chat room. Most of the discussions were civil, even when disagreements were had -- yes, even sometimes with a coot. But you had to generally think before carrying on the "chat." Constant flame throwers, Clemson "fans" who bashed Clemson players were usually totally ignored and got no traction. Those days are long gone.

We aren't unique in this

If you look at any team's message boards they will always call for a coach's head after a loss. I saw a fire Saban thread after they lost to LSU in the regular season this year.

It would help if your arguments weren't so feeble. You're the guy who in another post said the program had been in "STEADY DECLINE FOR THE LAST 7 YEARS." Don't know what major you were in, but it is hard to intelligently argue STEADY decline for 7 years with a CWS trip two years ago and a super the year before.
