Where There's Smoke There's Fire

I have been scouring the internet videos re. college football realignment and the new cfb playoff.
I have found at least a dozen or more blogs talking about the SEC/BIG taking over CFB by forming two conferences with all kinds of scenarios, but basically taking over CFB.
I have never seen this much talk by so many different sources. The SEC/BIG asking for 3 automatic slots in the 14 team playoff and the lions share of the money or else, is a pretty gutsy move and shows they think they are now in control.
I have no doubt, the SEC/BIG will end up in control. It's just a matter of when.

I don’t know if you have heard of him, but there is a guy pretty famous on YouTube with his own show named Josh Pate. He has several videos over the past few weeks discussing this issue. Said that if they don’t get what they want in regards to money, automatic qualifiers, etc. that they are going to leave the NCAA.

The NCAA doesn't have anything to do with the CFO though.

You are correct. But that’s not the point. The point of them leaving the NCAA would just mean that they are planning to go out on their own and start their own league is basically what he was saying.

I posted about him and his site on You.tube over a year ago since his take is unreal broad and surely opinionated but he has great thought and input too..
and surprisingly many TigerNet didn’t know of Josh back then but they do now!
He talks to coaches, gets leads, flies into best college football game of each week a day early and mingles with fans and posts..is on the sidelines reporting live and then does a postgame wrap up..
and then has show on Sunday-Thurs on You.tube with unreal & new subject matter.

I like Pate a lot, except for some of the fratboy antics with the chalice and stuff. He is very well spoken and accurate to a fault.

A breakaway is going to happen at some point and many of the schools

In the BiG and SEC will be part of it and many others in those leagues won’t have a seat at the new table. Others outside of those leagues will/ others won’t. Only a matter of time.

I posted 4 or 5 years ago eventually there would be one super conference that controlled what is called CF. The rest of the teams will on the outside looking in. And I stated that outside forces beyond Clemson’s control could hurt the football program. And I think that is what is happening now. The above influences have affected our ability to remain at the top of college football.
It’s really sad that college athletics has come down to the level it is now.

Demanding 3 automatic slots just shows their insecurity.

I think it shows their power. They know the more teams they have in the CFP, the more money they make. And it adds to that 52% they are going to get.

Do the SEC and B10 drop some dead weight football schools from their conference?

That will happen - it really wont be the SEC/BIG

any more - many of the those schools will be in the new league but those won’t exist as they do today and there will be schools that don’t fit the criteria for being in.

They could break away and form their own league with just those two conferences. But rest assured, if they do there will be tens of millions of fans of other schools that won't watch one second of it. Not one. Including me.

I think this is a great and necessary point. Glad you brought this up. Surely that has to be taken into consideration by said conferences? Or do they not think that it matters? Seems that it is of utmost importance as viewership and fans are basically what drives the sport.

There would have be a huge change to the existing members to do this. Your Vandys, Kentuckys, Northwesterns, South Carolinas, etc would have to be dumped and others added to make this appealing to the rest of the country. If it's just B1G and SEC today...... lot of the nation will tune out.

I know I will. Currently could care less about either conference. Both conferences are predictable. Same shizz different year.
It’s OSU and Michigan. Penn State will pretend to be good but will lose to both. Iowa will win the West because that side stinks. Am I right?
SEC will have have Ga in the East. No other teams in the east can compete with them. The West can get more interesting but it’s basically LSU or Bama. Again same shizz different year.

You guys are focusing on the wrong news out of the current negotiations. The P2 are muscling for 58% CFP revenue share. The rest get to split up 42% (Big12 & ACC get 32%, G7 & ND get some deal on on the remaining 10%). Atleast that’s what I recall reading. The auto bids and automatic top two seeds isn’t that important because those two conferences will get those spots as we know how the CFP committee and Networks get that done in the back channels.

SEC has a pen full of dogs...the others need someone to beat! Look at the analysis of the last 10 years...Bama, GA, some LSU...a little Auburn...some Fla and very little extra to hang your hat on. Money can't buy those dogs a conference championship...TAMU pulled a big bone head play! BIG 10 or whatever ain't much better OSU, UM, alittle Wisc at first PSU and Iowa tried...does that sound like a power conference? Money matters but it takes more until right now to change the paradigm...nobody knows for sure what NIL and portal mean down the road! Some say college academics is out...it has never been in with some in the last 20...we can all hide and watch...NCAA still worthless!
