Glad they chose us. Now we coach them the way we need to, and get back to the Natty!

“Head Coach Dabo Swinney is a blessing”
I agree with the sentiment but is this a typo?

It is interesting to hear Coach Swinney talk about the early signings at Clemson and then to read the media reports on how the various universities have fared as the 2024 recruits begin to commit. Clemson is perhaps in the second tier. Swinney's comments make it evident he will want his scholarship offerings to go to players who fit his mold, including academics and established positive human attributes. I'm not suggesting his mold is a narrow fit, but unquestionably it is narrower than many of the top "football schools" have for their recruitment efforts.
I am struck by how well FSU has done this time around. It is evident FSU wants to be back in the big time, and yesterday's article in ESPN that FSU is again seriously considering departing the ACC after being shut out of the BCS shows that to be the case.
The bottom line is that as long as Swinney is the Clemson football coach, Clemson will get good players but miss out on many of the biggest names. Swinney has old fashioned values with emphasis on student athletes rather than on athletes whose principal connection to a university is residing there. It is not about right and wrong, but rather about embracing the Swinney vision. Those of us with national championship visions dancing in our heads will likely be disappointed from season to season.

Being able to sign excellent players who are more likely to fit culturally within the Clemson program is more important than signing a class full of selfish top talent.
Love & kisses,
Jumbo Fisher (‘Retired’) HC, Texas A&M
Billy Napier (Hot Seat) HC, Florida
Garrett Riley (Portal King) HC, Southern Cal

Ooopps!
Bad ‘typo’ … meant Lincoln Riley - HC, Southern Cal.
Have a good day; I’m off to the electric chair.

I'll give you a reprieve. Your points are well taken. Dabo has already demonstrated that getting high character guys who happen to be good football players can lead to great things, even national titles. Perhaps the NIL and portal make it a bit tougher, but by no means impossible. Remember, the Tigers were one less mistake from beating FSU this season. Same story in a couple of other games. Sometimes the difference between a good team and a great team is razor thin. I'm not making any specific predictions, but in general, I think Clemson will continue to have outstanding teams in the coming years.
