Thoughts on yesterday, looking to 2024

OL still the biggest area in need of improvement obviously. Having Parks and Tate back will be big, and I believe we see Miller take a big step forward under Luke. LT and C question marks and areas where we need to see guys improve. Cade took a beating yesterday. Pass pro was horrendous yesterday
Cade. Put me in the camp that the game winning drive adds an air of confidence he hasn't had. Sacked 8 times yesterday, and while a couple may have been on him, most were our OL getting beat. Still he thrived on the last drive. Only INT he had was throwing to a wide open guy for a TD when hit. I think we see a much improved QB next year if the line improves.
RB-likely both Mafah and Ship return. Room is in great shape for 2024.
WR. Williams still looked gimpy to me but made 2 big catches on the last drive. Randall showed some YAC he hasn't yesterday. Need to finally stay healthy and block better. Need one of the incoming freshmen to become the 50/50 guy.
TE. With Brinningstool returning this may be the best TE room we've ever had.
DL. Woods and likely Story move to DE. No concerns here at all.
LB. Carter, I believe, gave us a sneak preview of next year yesterday. Great game. Brown steps in as a day 1 starter. Going to be a strength.
CB. I love Lewis. Lucas made great strides until the injury. Depth will be young, but we have 2 incoming freshmen who are likely ready to play. Depth here biggest question mark on what should be another great defense.
S-with Mickens returning, a very clear strength of the defense. Experience and talent.
P-Swanson had an excellent year, his return is big.
PK-hope the new guy is accurate
Been said for a while, but it comes down to the OL. I think Luke rides them like a mule, and we see the improvement we've longed to see

he's needed at DE if we play a majority 4 man front. Just like Wilkins, he can handle it

Receiver is a much bigger need than O line and defensive back is close behind. Georgia will be better next year than they are this year as they just reload.
Yesterday was a great effort by our entire team and the winning drive was as good as any we have had in the last 10-15 years.

We will have a difficult time vs UGA. They are absolutely loaded with 5* Talent at every position and have brought in some impact transfers. I do think we should be competitive but we will need to play significantly better then we did during any game in 2023! Looking forward to see the progress in 2024, especially with the offense!!

Depth behind them is young. S with Mickens, Barnes, Venables, Covil and others is a strength, not a weakness.
WR, who knows?. Need to see guys stay healthy. WRroom has been a mess last 2 years due to injuries

You're beginning to sound like coach-Mac-onkids. We have receivers. We've got good receivers that have been injured, are tru-frosh and injured or just joined the team mid/year.
We didn't fire the WR coach did we?
We fired the OL coach, didn't we?
Cognition is tough, coot. Mac can console you while he reps out another piece from the chicken bucket.

I think we probably lose first game but are well positioned to win out after that which should get us into the playoffs. After that it's anyone's guess.

Coaches need to put in more play-action passes and maybe throw in an option rollout occasionally.

until he got that INT to end the game. That may not be the same Lewis we get next year with another spring under his belt, but he was getting picked on alot by Kentucky.
I think we could be alot better next year and still lose to UGA. There's a large gap between where we finished the season and where we would need to be next year to beat them. Crazier things have happened but I think they will be better than us at most positions on the field.
I'm just at the point with this offense where I need to see it before I'll believe it. Cade, OL, and WRs all need to make huge strides next year. Luke is a reason for optimism with the OL, but I'm still very skeptical of Cade ever being a playoff-level QB. That last drive was probably the best he has looked all season so there is some hope of that carrying over, but the rest of his season was extremely forgettable.
We basically won yesterday because Kentucky turned the ball over 4 times in the 4th quarter. That's great, and I'm not going to say we didn't deserve it or anything, but if we are projecting next year I saw a Kentucky offense that moved the ball more effectively than Clemson. I saw a couple of playmakers for Kentucky that were far more explosive than anyone on our roster. I saw a Clemson QB that is just 100% reluctant to throw the ball more than 15 yards beyond the LOS. If we are going to get back to national relevance we have to figure out how to create explosive plays again. Is Cade capable of doing that? Possibly, but he hasn't shown it at all yet.

others, I doubt you're holding the ball for deep shots either. And other than Brown, we have no deep threat, and they played a safety over the top on his side all day.
A deep threat, a guy who can get the 50/50 ball, are obvious needs. We get the protection to throw deep, and find a guy or 2 who can actually go get them, the entire offense opens up. Starts with the OL. Then, is is Turner, one of the 2 freshman, guys like Hannifan or Johnson who redshirted? We have guys who could be those guys in addition to Brown, though all have hardly if ever played

I agree with most of this. I feel good about the defense, overall. Hoping Luke can work some magic with the talent we have. WR's need to step it up (coaching included). I think Cade is posed to make some strides, if the O-line can improve and the WR's can show some improvement. Need to avoid a similar early absence of fieldgoal kicking ability. Got some work to do, but most teams are in the same boat. We've got some good young talent that needs to produce. I'm encouraged. GO TIGERS!!!
