they hit an alarm. It’s dumb as #### cause even when doing flat bench with say 70lbs weights, you are inherently going to make a sound when you drop them down.
I mean I ate the oafs as much as anyone else, but really it’s only the deadlift guys being stupid.

The intent is to keep people from hollering, yelling, grunting, and slamming stuff around. They position themselves to be a spot where all are comfortable and don't have to deal with meathead type stuff.

They realized that signing up a whole bunch of people who won't use the gym frequently drastically cuts down on equipment use/overhead. They tailor their rules to further reduce heavy use of equipment and market it as friendly to all.
