Recruiting QB’s. We have obviously bombed out

on the 2024 guys we offered and I can, in a way, understand why. I honestly feel like our recruiting has ebbed the last several years and I blame that on Jeff Scott no longer being in charge of recruiting. Anyway...back to the present. Bringing in the new OC that we did, you would have thought that would have helped. But, let’s assume your son is rated a five star quarterback and he has offers from all the major schools. If one of the teams you like has a rising five star sophomore and an incoming five star, that would tell me that, at best, my son would have only two years to start. The Deshawn Watson/Trevor Lawrence timing was perfect.
As a side note. Now that Georgia’s 25 year old is gone, they have three five star QB’s. Ain’t no way one of them won’t transfer after spring practice.

on staff, Streeter was recruiting coordinator, then Grisham. Streeter recruited all QB's, as will Riley. Cade is a sure starter and Viz is likely to redshirt, not surprising QB's are looking elsewhere this cycle.

Good points both of you. I predict we sign a monster QB for the 2025 class.

Well, I don't rule out Viz redshirting, although that's the first time I've heard that mentioned on any posts. And we still need a back-up QB in case Cade is injured or gets sick. Right now, Hunter Helms has risen to the challenge in initial Spring practice reporting, and is currently ranked as the # 2 QB.
If that situation continues through Fall practice, you may be right that Viz may Red-shirt to gain more practice/experience without losing his eligibility in the #3 slot. The idea being he would be more ready to battle for the #2 (or #1) QB spot as a RS-freshman.
However, I don't think the Clemson staff or Viz have hinted of that possibility at this point. And even if they are thinking of that possibility, I doubt any decision (or serious discussion) would be made until after both Spring & Fall practice have occurred--and even until the season is completed (or Viz has played in 4 or 5 games this year).
While I don't disagree that QB recruits are looking at all the possibilities, to include looking at the QB situation at Clemson & other schools, nobody can be sure of why those QB recruiting targets passed on the Clemson offer & decided on another school. Your comments are very good possibilities of what has occurred or will occur. However, until we see more authoritative comments/actions forthcoming, everything is speculation at this point.

I think that our coaches who are well compensated can make decisions like this better than most fans …, but I could be wrong’

Jeff is a great recruiter, but Dabo is still on staff so we shouldn’t have seen a drop off.

Especially since we have outstanding facilities and recent success on the field and in putting guys in the NFL.
I personally think some of the public remarks by our coaches about NIL and the transfer portal have hurt our recruiting. It’s made our program appear dated and out of touch with the current reality of the sport.
I love what our program stands for, but I do think there should be more tact used in what is said publicly.
