George Rogers and Charlie Ward a couple other Heisman winners. No recall if Weinke visited. Julius Peppers one of most dominant (Clowney and Gilmore obviously got into Tahj’s head - flip them to us we probably win all those games)
Calvin Johnson, Herman Moore, Peter Warrick, Dunn, Peter Boulware, NCSU receiver who starred w great Rams teams (Horn?) - probably a lot more Seminoles too, all studs Add Alston Jeffries, Sterling Sharpe and Ryan Bethea as impressive gamecocks
Lots of greats, but thankfully more on our side most games
Ask same of basketball and the list is nearly endless

He was disruptive in college, but nothing compared to the monster he became in the NFL. He was about as unstoppable for a few years there as any defensive player I have ever seen. He could just single handedly disrupt an entire team's offense.

Hard to believe that Maryland had Boomer Esiason, Frank Reich, and Stand Gelbaugh on the roster at the same time.

Doug Flutie was a complete unknown when he came to Death Valley but after tying us at home and whipping us in Boston in 1983 he hail Maryd Miami in the Orange Bowl in 1984 to win the Heisman. I was sitting on the Hill wondering why we couldn’t tackle that little Johnny try hard in 1982.

I know you meant the most famous to come into Death Valley and played against Clemson, but let's not forget the inaugural season of the Carolina Panthers was in Death Valley for all their home games.

It was 1982, and not many people had yet heard of him. They would. BC tied us, and people were laughing at us because of it. He made a believer out of a whole lot of other teams, not just us.

on Bear Bryant's team in the late 60's.
Of course, I knew nothing about him then, but I was on the sidelines and saw Howard and Bryant chatting on our side. A famous exchange between the two arose afterwards: Howard said, "Bear, if I had your team, we woulda won this game." Bryant retorted, "Frank, if I had your team, we'd be national champions!" lol
