We need to bench the entire first string offense

... because the last drive of the game, there were no drops, missed blocks, communication issues, bad throws, or turnovers.
/sarcasm.
Did I get the logic right for those of you that think Cade needs to start immediately? Just wondering why any other position is different.

So I'm guessing you were salty when TLaw took over for KB too. Bc if you can't see the difference having an accurate or mobile qb makes idk what to tell you.

KB won the game for us at Texas A&M. Trevor wasn't ready yet. Trevor didn't pass KB until GT.
It was an evaluation beyond ONE drive.

How many drives did Trevor have that game? 2 or 3 before Dabo pulled him? I don't think we can say for certain Trevor would have lost that game.
Either way it will probably be the NC St game when the change happens hopefully it's not too late in the game by that point. They are going to run over Furman and play ultra conservative vs Wake and get away with it bc of size advantage just like they did vs GT last night.

you have a keen eye for football if you’ve noticed that there’s no difference in the quarterback position vs. any other offensive position relative to the success of a team.
most casual watchers miss that.

Take away Shipley and we may lose that game last night. Take away our TE, and we may lose that game.
QBs get all the spotlight just because they're IN the spotlight. Everyone wants to focus on the trigger puller and not the spotter, the guy that gathers the intel, the insertion guys, the log guys, etc. Team effort.

I’m just so glad DJ made that desperate toss to Shipley and not right to a GT player.

You don't understand how an rpo works or what the presence of a QB who can throw the ball more than 8 yards accurately does to a defense?
Cade had them frozen bc they had no idea how to defend the rpo when the qb was also a threat to run.

I'm one that continues to post that Cade is a better QB (and getting lots of thumbs downs), but never stated that he should start immediately. There is a slower process that has to take place for both coaches and players to determine the right time to make the change (if at all) - still DJ's job to lose.

How many times have we seen this EXACT situation at Clemson?! Talented freshman Deshaun Watson sits behind Stoudt. Talented freshman Lawrence sits behind Bryant. Talented freshman Kulbnik sits behind 93rd rated qbr quarterback week one. Yes, DJ is rated as the 93rd most efficient qb in football. He finished almost dead last in 2021. So, by what logic should have Stoudt started over Watson EVER?! Bryant over Lawrence?! DJ over Cade?! Never. I bet you were one of the Bryant cheerleaders weren’t ya?! That only resulted in a natty. Keep DJ in and we won’t win our league. Put Klubnik in and we have a shot at a deep playoff run and possibly another natty. It’s not just the majority of Clemson fans, it’s every “expert” talking about college football. Blind cheerleaders can be the worst.

How many games did Bryant start in 2018? 4. Like you said, that resulted in a Natty. We aren’t there yet with Cade. Patience grasshopper. Dabo knew what he was doing then and he knows what he is doing now.

Bryant was the better QB when we played Texas A&M - and we went 15-0 that year. By your post, it just sounds like to me that the multiple National Championship winning head coaches know exactly when to make the switch.
Good analysis!

To be fair to the present starter the decision one way or another should be made before the fifth game

Which is exactly what was done in 2018. Again - were you around then?

I can certainly agree with some (if not most) of your statements. But to answer your question: Family / Brotherhood. Whether we are talking Stoudt, Bryant or DJ, these guys have shared blood, sweat and tears with teammates long before the "new guy" entered the picture. Sure, a coach could take the "machete" approach and bluntly move players around, benching, etc. Dabo takes the family/brotherhood approach and does everything in his power to keep the proverbial locker room together (truly a family atmosphere). Sure, there is certainly frustration, but don't think that Dabo and the coaching staff are unconscious - they know exactly what they are doing, and are going to do this the right way, regardless of what the fans and media "demand." He certainly attempted to do things the right way with Bryant - it didn't turn out the way he wanted, but he did it the right way and could sleep at night knowing that he did.

The first string offense does not need to warm benches yet. Make a change at quarterback to see what happens. When the change was made, the tempo and accuracy increased, and the drive ended with a touchdown.

I can see the difference between a guy reacting quickly and being comfortable in that spot and playing with confidence and inspiring his teammates and a guy wound too tight.
