WATCH: Clemson players show off their ads for Bojangles
The new NIL era is upon us and one of the new ways that student-athletes are getting involved is showing their love of fried chicken and biscuits for money. A few Clemson players including starting quarterback D.J. Uigalelei posted social media ads recently about the popular restaurant Bojangles. Si Read Update » |

Whatever it is, I'm almost sure that it's more than they are getting in their stipend payment each month, and if it's not, IMO they are getting screwed!!!

I guess Bojangles knows their business but if these ads ever air, 99% of the people watching will have no clue who the players are unless there is a caption. I would think as a business, Bojangles would have ads in their footprint with players from every major school. This is a clear way of just testing the waters to see what effect college players will have on sales. No sale for me.

Most of these guys have a lot of followers on their social media sites and they will post them there. You have to think 4th dimension!

I've been trying many chicken sandwiches of late

but I have not yet tried Bojangles' new one.
My rating is on a 1-10 scale (all fried)
KFC's is an 8 but it is a large sandwich. McDonalds, to my surprise was 8.5 but it was very small. Tropical Grill has a new one, I rank it a 4, very disappointing but I like TG overall menu Popeye's 10 Legendary! Chick-fil-a 8 on avg but sometimes a 9 to 10. Better if it sits in the bag 15 minutes Hardee's 7 Zaxby's 8.5 Need to try the ChKing and this new one from Bojangles, then back to grilled ones for the belt line purposes. Who did I leave out?

Wendy's asiago bacon ranch chicken sammich is good

Probably give it an 8 or 9.
I agree with most on your list. When my buddy from work and I go to Tropical Grill, he always gets their Cuban sandwich. You should try that one.

I will try that one sometime. My go to at Tropical Grill is the rice with chopped chicken and tons of the yellow sauce. I went in, intending to order that, the menu swayed me to the chicken sandwich; what a let down it was.

Oh you'll like it. It's fat. Mine sat in the aluminum wrapper for 20 minutes before I could get into it but I really think that helps the flavor of the sandwich. It marinates in there and some magic happens. Love me some fried chicken sandwiches.

If I'm buying fried chicken from an eat out, or at home, I want the Wing. To me the wing is the best piece off the chicken to eat. But for sure without question, KFC is a place I'll never again order the chicken wing box dinner bc, their chicken wings are the smallest I've ever seen anywhere including the grocery store. Also with the KFC wings, you will hardly ever get one that doesn't have a broken bone. IMHO, KFC is by far the worst place to buy a wing meal of any size!!!

5'11" 215 lbs, 35" waist, attend the gym 3-4 times a week. But I love to eat and could stand to eat more grilled vs fried. Need to be at a 34".

What you really need to do at Tropical Grill is pick up their "family pack". The grilled chicken with yellow rice, mixed veggies and black beans for sides make this a great family meal. Includes a 2 liter drink.

Marketing specialists are far more knowledgeable than I. They get paid big bucks to decide how to market their product or service.
I see all of these as social media posts on the guy's home page (Facebook, Instagram, whatever). I don't see them as part of a TV ad.
But, with that said, I'm too old - or too something - for those clips to have any affect on me.
Bojangles obviously thinks they are worth whatever money they are paying these guys. I don't see it. But, who am I to argue with the professionals?

Until I saw Linthicum eating a chicken sandwich on Twitter. Now I am on a strict Bojanges Spicy Chicken sandwich diet. Being healthy is wayyyyy overrated anyway.

Marketing and sales teams have recommended these deals on their best analysis only. We don't really know how well these college kids will sell chicken, shoes, whatever yet because college kids have never sold anything on a large scale before.
I think we'll see an adjustment phase over the first year or two as the companies figure out what works and what doesn't, and maybe adjustments to the amounts paid as well. These things always work themselves out.

Most advertising strategy is simply “Follow the leader” ...

Once in a while something truly innovative and effective comes along.
But, mostly it’s Geico showing the way and followed by Progressive and finally hitting bottom with Liberty Mutual.
Fact: The average Madison Avenue exec is a total hack.
