Absolutely, no snap under center plays ?

Well, that is really, really stupid. There are times when that simple little play can come in really handy.
THAT, is bad coaching.

It was GT, we don’t need under center plays against a team we beat 73-7 last season.... biggest win margin in a ACC game ever...
Now we need to practice it... Dabo said the team playing on gamedays isn’t the team he sees practicing.
Hopefully we find some Mo-Jo soon...lol
The great thing is we can still win the ACC & we have the talent on defense to cover our offense if they throw some 50-50 balls much like we did with Deshaun... we threw some picks but Deshaun got better & teams were scared to play us...lol

I think snap under center plays should be standard ...

I don't care who your playing ... should always be an option cause you never know ! I guess NCSt will be a true test. Look decent that game and win, especially if the D holds them to no TD's, go up a few notches ...

“We’ve just always done it that way. We went with what we’re comfortable with.”
What a sorry ### excuse. These coaches are complacent and too comfortable and too soft.

Is Dabo saying if it’s 4th and inches or at the goal line, the offense does not have the ability to snap from under center with DJ?

A stellar defense....
Sep 20, 2021, 9:39 AM
|
|
...will only get us so far. Starting THIS SATURDAY, and from that day forward, I want to see the offense step up, take pressure off the defense, and produce points in a consistent manner. We have far too many 4 and 5 star receiving weapons that are being wasted because of a slow, inaccurate and frankly unresponsive QB who is being coddled by Dabo and TE. If the offense doesn't vastly improve starting this Saturday we may or will lose...

I think Mukuba can learn some things from this game and get even better. He took bad angles on a couple of plays that allowed GT to get some extra yardage.

I stated this the other day. It’s clear the QB and WR’s aren’t even on the same page in terms of what play is being called/execution of the play based on defensive alignment.

Back shoulder throws to the sideline are perfect against the defense GT ran...

If this pic of KJ literally holding an exhausted Skalski up doesn’t light a fire in our offenses butts, then nothing will.
Our defense is literally dragging tongues on and off the field come the second half.

I don’t pretend to know nearly as much about football as the coaching staff but it seems rather obvious that there are times that it would be better for the quarterback to take the snap under center than from the shotgun. The end of the game Saturday would be a perfect time to use it plus the possibility of a quarterback sneak in short yardage situations- especially with a 250 pound quarterback. It’s surprising they don’t have it in the playbook.

Y’all have short memories. 2014 at FSU. Late 3rd quarter. Score 10-10. 2nd and goal at the FSU 1 yard line. DW4 lines up in the shotgun and the center snaps the ball over his head to the FSU 24 yard line. The answers from the coaching staff then were EXACTLY THE SAME. DW4 had never taken a snap under center in his HS or college career so we did what we do. If the next 7 years pan out like 2014-2021 I’m ok. But I appear to be the only fan posting on this article that doesn’t know more than the coaches…..

Oh no I definitely remember. I was thinking of that exact play and that exact excuse before the ball was snapped

But do you remember the next 7 years after that play? Lots of good in there.

This is not a criticism of the last 7 years of offensive production. I am very specifically talking about a young QB’s inability to take the ball under center in a circumstance that clearly calls for it, a failed play as a result, and a recycled excuse that they don’t practice it. That’s noteworthy.

We are putting may too much wear and tear on our D and they will be broke down by mid season. It’s pathetic how bad this Offense is and it’s 100% on the Coaches . I would give them 1 more game and if no improvement, the bench is where they would be.

top 10 defense.... Tigers currently have a top 140 offense. So far the offense does not scare any defense. How in the world do you have 2 offensive linemen blocking each other. That is really sad. The offense is absolutely killing the defense. I understand there was dancing in the locker room following the game. I hope it was all defensive players and the offensive side along with the offensive coaches were on the side being wall flowers. It looks like the offense is counting on the defense way too much to keep them in the game. Sure didn't see any fire in some eyes until late in the game. Was finally glad to see DJ finally running with purpose and Shipley the same. This is the way to play on every down from start to finish. Just have to hope this rubs off and everyone will play this coming Saturday with focus and with their hair on fire.If not then everyone sit down, put your seatbelt on, grab your hardhat because it's going to be a long hard season to watch.

It’s a team game. I remember 2 years ago the offense carrying a young defense and nobody was clamoring for BVs head on a platter or asking to bring Kevin Steele back…

In 2018 our defense finished 5th nationally in total defense; offense was #3. In 2019 our defense finished 6th; offense was #5. 2020 D was 15th, O was 20th.
But to get to your point, I think the reason BV was never in any trouble was because 1.) he was working with somewhat of a talent and age gap 2.) he was then, and still is the best/brightest coach in that position with no Co-Co, and 3.) since then he has done nothing but improve/trend in the right direction. Oh and he took that talent/age gap and made it work (#5).
Tony Elliot might have sympathy for point #1 at QB (and I still believe it's an experience problem only).
BUT-I think for points #2 & #3, in my humble opinion, it's hard to argue those in his favor even with orange-colored lenses...3-6-20-140...
I know this season is a small sample size, but we have a lot a LOT of offensive talent. And a lot of potentially new offensive talent is watching. I think everyone just wants to see the best of our potential...

Tigers current ESPN Offense ranking is #110. South Carolina ranked #88. North Carolina State ranked #30. It's time for the Tiger Offense to join the team. I know it's early but if you're an elite program you keep the wheels turning. This weeks game in Raleigh may very well be a tell all.

NEWS FLASH::::::: CLEMSON IS LAST IN THE ACC ON OFFENSE after 3 games. Thanks Tony for the great play calling.. I wondered, after Jeff left, how long this would take to happen. DABO...Quit blaming EVERYTHING on the players. Nobody believes you. Clemson’s offense is #1 because of Venables. You don’t have to be a genius to come to the right conclusion.

You have a 250 lb qb and can’t take a snap under center for a yard or less? I think everyone agrees this is inexcusable.
Here is my question. Since we don’t run plays under center why would we try to draw them off sides with the qb under center??? Would that not automatically clue in the defense that we aren’t running a play?

The critics aren't arguing that DJU should have been under center when trying to draw the offsides penalty. They're saying when it didn't work and the delay of game penalty was assessed, then DJU should have been under center.

That photo of James skalski says it all. This years team is built on pure grit and determination. Just sad these young men may not get to the promise land because of another man's stubbornness to change.
