Funny, no one wants to hate on Alabama for winning half the national championships of the last 10 years, but Clemson has to go. Commentary in college football has suk’d for too long, TNet is all you need to read for the most part.

America is tired of Clemson. It’s obvious that everyone wants to see someone new play Alabama for the National Championship.

I don't think America is tired of Clemson. I think they are mad that Clemson is not what they should be - contenders. Expectations will not be met and the angst will continue.

Do you think the name of the "author" is legit.? I'd say it's more likely his name is Schlomo Silvers and is related to Elephant ears.

here's the truest and saddest thing from that article:

It’s no secret the program does not develop offensive line talent at a rate commensurate with its peers in the sport’s upper echelon. Since Dabo Swinney took over at Clemson in 2009, the school has had only three offensive linemen drafted into the NFL. Alabama has had 14, Ohio State 11 and Oklahoma 10.
If you think things don't need to change, then you'd better get used to losing.

What’s most interesting is that offensive line development (as measured by NFL draft) has only become a significant factor in 2021 and beyond. We did okay for the last decade with a crap line. But now that offensive line matters we better change everything about what we do.

Most of the games we have lost have been because of the OL. We haven’t had a really good OL since Danny Ford. Imagine how good we could be if we had a solid OL.
The OL problems are not our biggest problem. The persistent OL issues are actually a symptom of the problem. The problem is Dabo being stubborn, a bit arrogant, and overly loyal. Other elite coaches, especially the one Dabo will always get compared to, Nick Saban, would’ve resolve this problem a long time ago. Saban completely changed his offense and defense during the playoff era and I unlike Dabo he refuses to let the game pass him by such as the transfer portal and NIL.
Nick Saban hates losing more than he loves winning. I can appreciate that. I don’t think the same can be said for Dabo.

None of the guys from those Danny Ford teams played in the NFL...
I mean, Les Hall went to some camps but never played in the NFL.

They certainly played for Danny but pretty sure they both came to Clemson under Charley Pell. Kind of the exception that proves the rule.

This comment is absurd on its face.
A) the last ten years are the best O-line recruiting in Clemson history as measured by industry rankings. If Caldwell is bad it’s a miracle we ever won a game before he got here.
B) what exactly has been the trajectory of this team since ‘11? Literally the 3rd best poll era college football team in history. Yeah, he’s a real sack of crap.

Alabama current streak (Clemson and Alabama were tied until 3 weeks ago and both have won 2 titles in the stretch). Miami 85-93 is tops (137 weeks on Top 10, 3 National Championships). Nebraska 93-98 is 4th. No one else is close.

Good point. And since 2009, how many NC have those those 3 teams won. Sometimes you just have players who are good enough to win NCs but nowhere good enough to play on Sundays. I would guess that those same ratios would exist in other positions also...check it out.

I guess he may "repel" some recruits. Guess you're saying he can't relate to today's players and you may be correct. I loved and learned a lot from my Grandfathers so I must be an outlier.

I’ve thought about this as well, considering all the stud QBs, DLs, wide receivers and running back’s we get, where are the offensive linemen? We usually have one stud on the oline, and the rest are role players

Football is most easily won with the big uglies up front . I don’t need a journalism major from Philadelphia Tech to tell me that. Dabo knows this. We have not recruited a lot of great offensive linemen and have developed even less. I’d like to see that change Right now.

With-out a average O-Line the average quarterbacks struggle. No new revelation there. Great QB play hides deficiencies elsewhere which is what has been happening for the last 8+ years at Clemson. Now that our QB is struggling the O-line play is magnified. We will loose atleast one more game this year unless we can improve.
