If Clemson were to move to the SEC for all sports

think of the advantage we would have in recruiting. Clemson would have 30 million per year more revenue. Plus all of the recruits who only want to play in the SEC. It would take about two recruiting cycles for Clemson to totally dominate the SEC. That is why you have all the SEC trolls on this board telling us we could not compete against teams like Vanderbilt, UofSCk, Kentucky, Auburn and even the dreaded Alabama. I think we won two national championships against them. They don’t want Clemson in the SEC because they are afraid of the monster it would create.

A lot of truth there waterboyII ... and Clemson offers a strong Engineering School presence to the SEC in addition to another strong academic state school along with UF, UGA and arriving UTexas.

There are lots of strong engineering schools in the SEC. That wouldn’t be a differentiator.

Or more realistically we would be like the others in the top half. Ups and downs. We would cycle like the others. We would still dominate South Carolina though.

Just keep winning. That’s what it’s all about!
Adding the west coast teams likely will benefit the Tigers.
I would much rather play Stanford or Cal. than taxidermy tech!

We would have no advantage. We would be treated like the red haired step child and would get all the crappy schedules and disadvantages.

Then they would just start a Wimmins Swimming & Diving team, Wimmins Cross Country Skiing, Wimmins Full Contact Knitting and Wimmins Uphill Ball Rolling teams to use up the $30M.........Title IX, ya know.

While money and recruiting are huge components of building a successful team, Clemson large in part is already successful at both of those things. Most polls I've seen, Clemson ranks in the top 25 when it comes to program value and around top 10 when it comes to recruiting.
The most important reason for wanting to be in the SEC or Big 10 (I prefer Big 10) is because the ACC is viewed as being a weak conference and due to that perception it will not get many seats at the playoff table moving forward. The ACC will be lucky to have 2 teams in a playoff where the big 10 and SEC will most likely get 3. That is a huge deal

Sorry but are blind to fact that Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and all the other teams would not stop recruiting if we joined the SEC. As long as the 85 rule is in effect, no team will dominate because the top players will be spread out because they simply will not sit on the pine.

I feel like the addition of Softball and Gymnastics put us more in line with joining the SEC for sure. The lacrosse addition was a head scratcher to me - totally an ACC/Northeast sport.

As long as Clemson

Continues to win big bowl games, national championships, knocks off one of college footballs “big teams” Then the ACC will not appear to be a lesser league. Hopefully FSU and Miami and ND and the other teams in the league can win their share of big Games too.
