I'm still awake after the basketball game. UConn is simply better than anyone else this year. They set the tempo, and pretty much do what they want. Great team basketball.

North Carolina Highway 144 is a 12.0 mile two-lane rural state highway in Scotland County that runs from the west end at US 74 in Laurel Hill to the east end at US 401 in Wagram as a shortcut around Laurinburg.
Lake Cunningham is about 6 miles from Lake Robinson and is also owned by the Greer Public Works Commission. It is a 376 acre lake built in 1956, so about half the size of Lake Robinson and 25 years older. It is the next lake downstream of Lake Robinson on the South Tyger River. It is also a drinking water source for the area and a fishing and boating only lake with no swimming allowed. A boating permit from the Lake Wardens office at Lake Robinson is required. Lake Cunningham also has bass, bream, crappie, and catfish. There is a recreation area on the west end of the lake with a boat ramp, fishing pier, picnic shelter, playground area, and a great view of the lake.

144 - Chad Carson Recorded 144 Tackles In One Season (1999)

Clemson LB Chad Carson (1998-2001) apparently can do almost anything and everything. And do it all well! What Carson did on the field was certainly impressive. But his on-the-field accomplishments only begin to tell his story!
While at Clemson:
While Carson was still playing at Clemson, ClemsonTigers.com reported the following information about his play on the field:
“When arriving in Tigertown, the coaches were concerned with Carson’s development and how soon he would develop into the type of linebacker Clemson needed to be competitive.
Throughout Carson’s first three seasons at Clemson he has proved to the coaches he can withstand the caliber of Division I college football. During Carson’s freshman year he played special teams and had only 17 snaps as linebacker. He was a top special team tackler in 1998 with 10 tackles on the season.
During the 1999 season, Carson went from a special team player who played just 17 snaps as a linebacker to third in the ACC with 144 tackles.
“I was thrown in the fire my sophomore season, but it was a good opportunity because it forced me to become experienced fast,” Carson said.”

Of note, however, this article also adds the following information about Carson off the field:
“When I hear the name Chad Carson I think of someone who is very mature, responsible, and disciplined,” said Bill D’Andrea, director of student-athlete enrichment. “He always demonstrates a seriousness about his academics, weightlifting and football. Whatever Chad Carson undertakes, he puts his all into it. If he decided to take up the art of sewing, he would create a masterpiece.” … In Carson’s three years as a Tiger, he has accumulated a 3.93 GPA in biology with a minor in German. He has also been a member of the ACC academic honor roll for the past three years.
Carson spends what free time he has reading books such as “Atlas Shrugged,” a 1,200-page novel about objectivism. He enjoys deep intellectual discussions that revolve around philosophy and science. With dreams of traveling across the world one day he has compiled a list of priority countries to visit. The top three include Europe, Australia and a safari in Africa. Carson and his roommate, Altroy Bodrick, love to cook in their spotless apartment that contains plants, candles and a fish tank.”

Impressive stuff to say the least!! No wonder he won awards during his time as a student-athlete. According to ClemsonTigers.com:
“Chad Carson, a three-time Academic All-American and All-ACC linebacker on the gridiron, was one of two recipients of the prestigious Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award on Friday. The announcement was made at Clemson’s Commencement at Clemson Memorial Stadium.
The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award is given “in recognition of the recipient’s influence for good, excellence in maintaining high ideals of living and genuine and disinterested service to others.” The award, named in honor of the first president of the New York Southern Society, was established by an agreement between Clemson University and the New York Southern Society. It is awarded annually to two students and one non-student during the university’s spring commencement ceremony. … Carson graduated magna ### laude Friday with a bachelor of science in biological sciences and a minor in German. Carson was a three-time Academic All-American at Clemson, joining teammate Kyle Young as the only three-time selections in Clemson sports history. He was an Academic-All ACC selection for three years and was the only Division I football player to be named a finalist for a Rhodes Scholarship in 2001.
In terms of community service, Carson served on the ACC Student-Athlete Advisory Board, the Clemson Student-Athlete Advisory Board and was an officer in LIFE Line, a football leadership and community service organization.
On the field, Carson led the Tigers in tackles this year with 137 and he finished 19th in the nation in tackles per game. He concluded his career fifth in school history in total tackles.”

After Clemson:
Much like he did at Clemson (see above) after he left Clemson, Chad Carson has continued to live life to the absolute fullest!
Real Estate Developer, Businessman, Speaker, Author:
According to Carson’s website (CoachCarson.com), he soon began a real estate development company – which he has accompanied with public speaking and writing opportunities.
“In 2003 I started my own business investing in real estate, and I found that the games of business and money were very similar to sports.
I needed goals, fundamentals, hard work, persistence, a team, and coaches.
The best coaches and mentors in my life were always enthusiastic teachers. They truly cared about my success. They never allowed me to settle. They pushed me to be my best.
In 2009 when I began to write, speak, and share my own enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, real estate, money, and life with others, coach seemed like an appropriate title.:

He has also published books on Real Estate Investing. He has two books for distribution on Amazon: - Retire Erly with Real Estate: How Smart Investing can Help You Escape the 9 to 5 Grind and do more of what matters [Note: #1 Best Seller in Real estate Investments on Amazon.com] - Small and Mighty Real Estate Investor: How to Reach Financial Freedom with Fewer Rental Properties
Here is his author bio on Amazon.com:
About the author Chad Carson is an active real estate investor and entrepreneur from Clemson, South Carolina. When not investing, you’ll find Chad traveling with his wife and 2 young kids, playing pick-up basketball, hiking, learning something new, and helping build trails in his local community. He also writes and teaches at coachcarson.com about using real estate investing to retire early and do what matters. https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B07C83J6KD/about
Sideline Radio Football Reporter:
Along the way Carson has also served the greater community in multiple ways. He served as a sideline reporter for Clemson football radio. According to ClemsonTigers.com:
“Former Clemson linebacker Chad Carson will serve as the sideline reporter on Tiger football radio broadcasts in 2004, David Hubbard, manager of Clemson Tiger Sports Properties announced Friday. … “Chad did an outstanding job in the last two games. As is the case with Will Merritt and his contributions in the booth as color commentator, Chad knows Coach Tommy Bowden’s system and can provide insight during the broadcast, especially from the defensive standpoint. He also has a familiarity with the coaches, players and staff on the sideline. He will be an excellent addition to our broadcast team.”
https://clemsontigers.com/carson-to-serve-as-sideline-reporter-on-clemson-radio-network/
Community Servant:
And, he has served as President of the local Friends of the Green Crescent Trail, “A planned network of multimodal trails and connections.” https://news.clemson.edu/area-experts-share-the-vision-of-a-new-perimeter-road-as-a-gateway-to-campus-and-beyond/
For info on Green Crecent Trail (and a 2019 introductory note from Chad Caron): https://www.greencrescenttrail.org/
And in His Spare Time:
As if all of this was not enough, TigerNet shared more of Carson’s activities. According to TigerNet, Carson has been able to fulfill his dreams from college to travel the world (see those dream mentioned above):
“I always wanted to travel more when I played football, but it wasn’t always possible. So, as my real estate investing career progressed, we started traveling more. Like, in 2009 we took a 4-month “mini-retirement” to South America. I learned to speak Spanish, and we hiked to ancient ruins and beautiful national parks. … In 2017 when our real estate investments were more stable, we decided to take a longer retirement and live in Cuenca, Ecuador for a year or more. We just got back in 2018 after being there for 17 months.”

As always, special thanks to Scott_Rhymer® and the Tiger Pregame Show for these excellent “Letterman of the Day” videos. Here is the video look at Chad Carson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRwsz3XlFZ8
Clearly, Chad Carson knows how to get the most out of life! Yet another true Clemson man!!
