Yes. Think it was mentioned in the beginning of the article. Excited to see what both coaches can accomplish at Clemson. Go Tigers!

Tony left in a hurry and the coaches on Dabo’s list apparently were not available at that time.
There are so many factors involved and so many things need to line up quickly. Why just pick someone far down on his list to to fill the spot when you can get your #1 guy the next year.
Streeter was in the right place at the right time .. it didn’t go as well as everyone had hoped obviously.
But Dabo is right, it just happened to be Streeter’s time .. until it wasn’t. Sometimes best man up doesn’t work as well as you’d like it to. That’s football.
But Dabo gave him a chance - it didn’t work out - and Dabo made a decision to go get Riley.
The difference between Streeter’s situation and these two recent coaching hires is that Dabo was in control of the situation. It appears he hit it out of the park with these two coaching hires.

Dabos list only included Streeter.

He said so at the time.
And that’s the problem. He didn’t intend to do a national search for a top offensive coordinator, despite our ability to pay for one as well as recruit one due to our recent success.
I don’t understand why some people here can’t just acknowledge that. It doesn’t make Dabo a bad coach. It doesn’t make him a bad coach. It just means that he miscalculated and was wrong.

So, I'm on the record in multiple past posts about my frustration that we did not at least consider best of breed coaches for OC/DC when we had the opportunity a couple of years ago. I even quoted Dabo's line where he said, "I spent about 30 seconds evaluating outside coaches." This, and the lack of selective use of the portal when we had a spot or two to fill, have been my biggest beefs.
Having said this, I also have to acknowledge and appreciate all that Dabo has meant to Clemson in terms of wins, playoffs, national championships, conference champions, coach of the year, (2) National Coordinators of the Year, graduation rates, enhancement of our brand, national recognition, and truck loads of money brought in that the university, city and state have benefited from.
The summary for me is this; Dabo has earned the grace he is extended when some of his decisions don't work out. And to his credit, though stubborn he can be, he eventually does get it fixed.
When you say you don't understand why he gets the passes he gets and why more people don't call him out, this is why...

He might have been wrong with Streeter but seems he wasn't wrong with Goodwin.

I wouldn’t argue with that. Goodwin has definitely grown into his role and is doing a good job.

I really didn't see it as a jab, I believe he honestly said it the way that he and many of felt at the time of the hires that didn't have the experience needed to coach at the level that Dabo has put Clemson FB in. OMHO, one more of those inexperienced hires should be replace sooner than later, and that hire is Tyler Grisham. And it's not that I dislike him as a person bc I do like him, he is an X Tiger receiver that done a pretty good job as a player, but he hasn't done that well with his recruiting, and he has done well at coaching up what he has help to bring in. Tyler also don't have the experience to coach WRs at this level of D1 FB.
How many WRs have we had drafted into the NFL in the 1st to the 3d round of the NFL since he has been our WRs coach? Before Tyler, we were getting our WRs drafted from the 1st to the 5th round of the NFL every season, WRU was earned, it wasn't just placed bc we had a lot of free agent WRs...

I don't disagree about Grisham, but I do think the timing is absolutely wrong. The WRs we have coming in were recruited by Tyler. If Dabo fires him right now there's a chance that one of them decommits and that's not a risk he's willing to take right now. But you better believe that Tyler Grisham will have a seat hotter than a BBQ grill next season.
Also... maybe Jeff Scott will be ready to come on back to be the WR coach when it's time for Grisham to move on.
