It feels like the number of offers we are giving out has...

..ticked up. I know there are places that track the numbers of offers going out. Anyone been watching this consistently enough to notice a jump? Just seems like there are more tweets and such about offers than there were in the previous few months.

According to 247 sports we are at 84 compared to 72 last year 2022 - 84 2021 - 72 2020 - 107 2019 - 162
For comparison Jawja had an insane 224 offers this year and 250 last year
Take these with a grain of salt schools don’t announce offers; they aren’t allowed to publicly talk about high school kids who have not enrolled or signed an NLI with the school.

The number of offers HAS to "tick up" since we are suddenly

finishing second on a lot of guys we wanted. I always considered Dabo to be the best "Closer" in the recruiting game. Whether it be due to the Corona virus shutting down in person recruiting for over a year, or now, the advent of NIL, where eventually Clemson WILL fall short due to our lack of Mega-rich Alumni, the scales seem to have tipped to a non-favorable direction where our recruiting is concerned.
We desperately need a couple of high profile, big WINS on the recruiting trail, to let potential recruits know that "Hey, Clemson is still here, and you still have a great shot at winning a Natty if you come here."
I would have thought that Cade Klubnick would have been that guy, but he doesn't seem to have very long "coattails", as it would be called in the political arena. We need him to entice some more Blue Chippers to come join him.

Much harder to close when you lose several good coaches and recruiters.

looking at these numbers if I got offered by one of these schools I would be like who cares. They offer everyone. Guess that is why the kids all seem excited if they receive an offer from Clemson. It actually means something.

Exactly!
Then add Dabo isn't the type to offer unless he really wants you and think that you will be a value add to the program.
Some of these schools are just looking at it from a "strict numbers game" point of view.

if they ask enough girls out, a few are bound to say yes.
I don't blame them, it's just interesting to see.
On the other hand, we seem content to just ask a few out and hope that they like us back.

I would rather ask the few and not waste time with the ones I'm not interested in.

Love this comparison: "our problem the way I see it though is, we are highly selective and we have a rumor mill we don't know about going on behind our back saying we have cooties or something"! Now, our super-selectiveness hurts us because all the girls are going to go to another person who might have cooties too(negative recruiting) but at least they are paying(NIL)"!
You almost want to do some big "set the record straight advertising to h.s. coaches" so they are fully informed on who they are sending their young men out to. For the parents as well and more importantly.

desperate offers to Friends, family, & fallbacks.....

we're "in the red" with scholarship players. We've swung and missed on some "target 1s/2s" and now just have to have numbers.
Dabo is still "stingy"/hesitant/methodical when it comes to portal recruiting.

the sad part is we used to be able to signed some late bloomers and coach them up for three years and then get two more good years from them. Used to be fun to watch them grow on the field. But now people get in the ear and they transfer and we dont get the benefit of this. Also the player usually fails also when they transfer.

Seems some big time WR recruits would be knocking down our doors with (2) 5 star QB’s on the roster.

So these other schools that dish out noncommitable offers, how does that work? If a kid gets the offer and wants to commit on the spot, they just say no? That seems like a skeezier way of doing what people try to call out Clemson for. Seems like a player didn't like it when they were told that our coaches were waiting on a decision from a blue chipper.

With the 3 or 4 decommits and a couple late portals, a good many spots opened late.

2023 Offers UPDATE:
Clemson: 46 Alabama: 102 UGA: 170 OSU: 96 OU: 108
These are the schools we're competing against for NCs. Once again, these schools are being far more aggressive than we are with offers. After the 2022 class, we need to urgency for 2023, but it seems like we''re doubling down on our strategy. Better hope it works.

I believe we have around 72, which is 13 short of the 85 man roster. It also doesn't seem like we're gaining much momentum with anyone in the 2022 class. It ends next month.
My fear is that Swinney is going to try to reach the 85 limit by offering a bunch of walk-on/ lower caliber players that are not what's needed to compete for championships.
