Chad Diehl... the most intimidating guy I ever saw

Random thought on a cold, snowy day.
Thinking about my time at Clemson, on campus, at games... there were certainly players with bigger measurables than Chad Diehl at 6-2 260 lbs. but he was one of the few that I saw while walking around campus that made me stop and think "my god, that is a monster of a human being."
DJ Reader is another who comes to mind, but on a spring day in 2010 while walking around campus, Chad Diehl in his cutoff jean shorts looked like he had jumped out of the pages of a comic book.

I hurried to get in front of Michael Dean Perry. He was in no hurry to get to his class and there was no going around him. He was a massive human being. I appreciated that Coach Ford made them go to class.

Arthur Bussie was the meanest man to ever wear a Clemson uniform. If Danny would have stayed he would have been a superstar!

When I co-op'ed I was at school in summer, 1996. I remember getting in the elevator and when the door opened standing in it was Trevor Pryce and one of the other players (for the life of me I would have sworn it was B-Dawk, maybe he was still on campus summer of '96 after the draft?).
That dude... holy shirtballs. 6-6, 290. Fat jroberts just crowded himself into the corner. I was surprised the elevator moved.

I remember Fridge Perry was walking through the student post office. It was tight quarters and that's the only time I ever remember praying that another human being would not accidently step on my foot. He was wearing shorts and his calves were as big as my waist (at least at that time).

I remember him from high school at Byrnes. He's around my age too. Ridiculously strong in the state weight room competitions. Almost super human strength. In high school! Like 15 or 16 years old squating 600+
I hated seeing Diehl step away early for health reasons. I get it, but hated to see it.

Shook hands with and talked to Levon Kirkland a couple of weeks ago. He’s not as big as some of the dudes mentioned here but still pretty big. Told him how much he was appreciated for laying the stones for our program. He almost had a tear in his eye and thanked me for saying so.

I went in WinnDixie to get some groceries and walk around the corner of an aisle and William Perry was standing there with his wife or GF and they had two carts full He was wide enough to do the bump with both sides of the aisle Wide Did I mention he was wide side to side Interestingly he and Devane had reasonably similar measurables 6-3 315 and 6-2 298 But Devane was built normal as in front to back Perry was two and half people wide That side to side size demanded a double team simply because the OL could not get around him I had a summer class with Terence Flagler and he was the definition of a mesomorph The prof had him stand up when he talked about that body type!

Chester McGlockton was probably the largest player I ever seen up close. He had an hourglass shape. Huge shoulders and legs!

But I’m 6’7 250 and met current player Zach Owens and he’s the largest human I’ve even met.
