to be left out of realignment and possibly headed to the Big 12. Fantasy Gamecock Forum with another delusional thread. At least there was one poster with a little sense about our TV market and Football, Basketball. Soccer and Softball programs.

I saw that too. I read something from an FSU insider saying that they along with UNC were paying their way out of the ACC and big ten bound but we can’t afford it and don’t have the funds to do so so we’re going to be left out and stuck in the ACC. Not sure how true it is but I read it too.

If FSU had the money then why did they spend all summer stomping their feet and whining like a toddler instead of flopping their claimed big D on the table and buying their way out? All these people live in fantasy world. Every team is going to wait until the new tv deals come out bc there may actually be a way to fight the GoR based on competitive compensation.

Although, the same was true for the Big 12 and Pac 12, and it didn't stop Texas, Oklahoma, and Southern Cal

As much as I would like to keep FSU as a rival, it would be a blessing to see UNC and UVA go away. And it would be fun to watch them both get eaten alive in the SEC.
Whether we stayed in the ACC or ended up in the Big 12 (either individually or by merger), I like our playoff chances under the conference model better here than in one of the Big 2. And if we are going to have to cultivate new rivalries, I like the idea of either adding schools to the ACC or merging with the B12.
And there is still no chance that if a structure independent of conferences and the NCAA for college football, we won’t be a part of it.
But I am just a fan, and what I think doesn’t matter. I am just going to be a Clemson fan, regardless of what league we are in or what trophy we are competing for, and confident in the knowledge that we have three trophies that UNC, UVA or SCAR will NEVER have…and that FSU will never have again…in the brave new world.

After adding Oklahoma and Texas, SEC needs a few more guaranteed wins for them and the other big boys. SEC can't schedule everyone to play Vanderbilt and SCAR. Adding UVA, UNC would give Bama, UGA, et al., a few more easy games each year.

It seems like college sports is on a collision course with the pay for play model proposed by the NCAA and the lawsuits for antitrust violations. I think both are going to force drastic changes to the landscape of conferences and alignment. I don't see schools in states that afford employees tons of rights and benefits will choose to compete in those models. I also don't see how institutions like Wake Forest will be able to fund all their current sports teams.
My point is getting out of the GOR may "fix" itself. I don't know where that will leave Clemson but based on their ability, financially and competitively, to field championship caliber teams in multiple sports, I think they will be fine in whatever organization lies ahead. The administration has shown their financial commitment over the years with facilities and coach pay. I don't think you agree to pay an offensive line coach $1m/year or a head coach $11m/year if you aren't committed to competing at every level and all phases.
Does anybody know if they are pumping oil out of Lake Hartwell or something?

Clemson is among college football's top five biggest brands coupled with the fact that the University has more than established a willingness to provide the resources necessary to field championship caliber teams in multiple sports.

Money drives the show. Never forget that. When in doubt, refer back to that.
The B1G university presidents would have preferred Stanford and Cal over Oregon. Fox was not willing to pay for Stanford or Cal. They got Oregon- at a reduced rate so as not to impact their "cut of the pie".
1. Fox will pay for FSU at full rate- if they do, the SEC and ESPN may jump in begrudgingly.
2. Fox will pay for Clemson at full rate- if they do, the SEC and ESPN may jump in begrudgingly..
3. Fox will pay for UNC at half rate- if they do, the SEC and ESPN may jump in begrudgingly..
4. Fox might pay for Miami at half rate, I doubt SEC/ESPN have any interest here.
5. Fox MAY have interest in Pitt (due to large City), I doubt SEC/ESPN have any interest here.
6. I doubt Fox has ANY interest in UVA or GT, although the B1G University presidents would, I doubt SEC/ESPN have any interest here.
7. I doubt Fox or the B1G have much interest in the other schools in the ACC.
Sit back, relax, and watch this play out.

Also, just FWIW, the ACC in academia is on equal footing with the B1G as it stands currently, and Both are a step behind the Ivy League.
Current 2024 USN&WR "Best National University Rankings" for the B1G-
Northwestern #9 Michigan #21 Illinois #35 Wisconsin #35 Rutgers. #40 Ohio State #43 Purdue. #43 Maryland. # 46 Minnesota. #53 Michigan State #60 Penn State. #60 Indiana #73 Iowa. #93 Nebraska. #159
New addition Oregon is #98
Clemson is #86.
Anyone who says Clemson's academics aren't good enough for the B1G are flat wrong. My two kids- one currently in college one just graduated, were NOT accepted at Clemson. They were accepted to MULTIPLE B1G schools including Mich State, Purdue, Ohio State, and Penn State.

Listening to Jason preister the other night , and he seems to think that in 2 years these conferences won’t matter anyways because they’ll have a 40 to 60 team league and they’ll have it divided up

So where is this article BBB is talking about? He heard them saying it’s there, but I can’t find it. It reeks of “Source: Trust me bro”.
As for the poster who said we can’t afford it, we just had one of the all time highest contributions and booster fund raising of all time. You’re so full of it, your eyes are brown.
