A lot of car and horse racing fans have never had a racecar or a race horse, but know a lot about it. They can still be fans and learn a lot.

Personally, haven't followed either extensively. I am a big baseball fan without having played baseball. What sport(s) are you a fan of and did you play it?

I have never played one game as a college football player.
I have watched games for decades and have a clue.
I understand the coaches and players know what is about better than me.
