Update on Neff and Brownell

There is an informal meeting with AD Graham Neff and a small group of our media at 5 pm today. If this is happening now, my guess is that it's either in support of Brad Brownell or to announce he will return next season. Guess we will wait and see, but given the setting and the timing, that makes the most sense to me. I am taking my laptop and will let you know as soon as I do.

Probably meant that Neff will announce that he backs and supports Brownell for the purpose of the the NIT or could be that he wants to announce his return next season and an extension.
Can’t imagine Brownell being fired before hosting the esteemed NIT on Wednesday.

It wouldn't be anything else. Neff wouldn't call an ad hoc meeting to announce anything else. Neff's probably been bombarded all day with calls and emails from both jk acolytes and wanting cbb to go. Neff's putting rumors to bed.

How many times has a coach heard the infamous words, "you have our full support" only to be fired after the season. If Brownell gets "support", it could turn out bad for him. So we'll see how it's worded - he has support or will be back.

to say anything right now if he plans on keeping CBB.....or if his mind isn't made up (with one exception).
If Neff is inclined to keep CBB, & states he is coming back next year...its going to be a bad look if we lose early in the NIT and don't make the NIT Final Four. The one exception is maybe Neff wants to get in front the possibility of a bad NIT performance---a situation where announcing that he is coming back after another upset loss would be much more painful. Regardless, most natives are very restless & want a change. Also, not sure its great timing to say CBB is coming back after failing again to reach the NCAAs (and in a very down year for the ACC) when it was a stated goal (per Neff's letter to BB season tix holders).
Now, if Neff wants to say he isn't coming back....now is the time to do it. If Neff's mind is made up that a change must be made, he should do it now (what must be done eventually.....). Also, why risk CBB winning the NIT when firing him after that would be much more unseemly...
