There hasn't been much, if any, mention of Tyshon Dye. Is he healthy (I thought he was supposed to be now, but maybe not) and, if so, is he practicing?

I trust Swinney more that Morris on picking QB.

I feel he would be biased against Stoudt who was not his recruit. And his man could not beat usuc, and both Morris and Tajh made bad plays in all of those games. I think we need calm more even-minded QB - barring injuries. Last spring, I have to admit Swag looked better until he was injured. Still think Watson ought to redshirt! I hope Morris did not make promises in recruiting him for last few years. Remember Stoudt and Kelly were H. S. phenoms also!

the man gets paid to win games. he could care less who recruited the players. if that were the case, wouldn't Kelly have taken Boyd's job?
the player who gives us the best chance to WIN will get the nod. I trust that is the case with our QBs more so than any other position on the field.

in these double-digit win seasons. He knows how to coach. He knows his players. Remember it's his "name" on this offense. He said as much when he got here. He will not play favorites and risk putting a product out there that isn't the best it can be. He will play whoever gives us the best chance to win.

I trust Morris and Swinney to make the decision on who starts. The way I look at it we need 3 or 4 QBs going into fall camp and need 3 going through the season. I do not expect any of our coaches to play favorites because they recruited someone. I think Kelly and Watson fit better what Morris want to do... but if Stoudt is the best then I Morris would want him to start. He seemed to handle the offense fine last year.

Ever get the sense CM is being evasive here? Kinda got the 'used car salesman' feel from this interview.
I will say that Mike Williams better step up. He may find himself on the outside looking in...

we'd all want Watson to redshirt. I don't expect that to be the case though, and not cause of a promise made in recruiting. These days, the kids of his caliber, have themselves on the "3 year plan." They come in planning to spend 3 years on campus, then entering the draft. If that's the case here, then a RS would really just mean nothing.
As far as Dye goes, he tore his Achilles. They've said they hope to have him back by fall, or sometime during the season. Exactly how that they plan to do that tho, is the question. The rehab & recovery time from that injury is usually about 12 months. Is he's on the field at all next season, then more than likely he's been rushed back. However, we do have a track record of bringing guys back to early at times. It happened to much under Bowden, and it's happened a few times under Dabo. Whenever Tyshon gets back on the field, I just hope he's 100% recovered. Look how Kobe struggled coming back from the same injury. Came back to fast, and then ended up with another serious injury. The risk isn't worth the reward when comes to rushing guys back.

Winston, Tajh and Johnny FB. And Stoudt and Kelly were hs phenoms as well! Remember Watson was injured and lost his last game. Stoudt is less likely to be injured at 6'5" and 230 lbs. Watson is 6ft. 3" 188 lbs!

Morris biased against Cole?
Mar 28, 2014, 8:33 PM
|
|
I can't see that. He didn't recruit Tajh and I think he did everything he possibly could to help Tajh. Morris wants to win, period, and no way could I see him letting any kind of "personal favoritism" toward any player be more important to him than winning. Now, does Morris still have some maturing to do as a playcaller? Absolutely, but that's a conversation for another day. I have no doubt that the QB who gives us the best chance to win will be under center.

Mike Williams a veteran?
Mar 28, 2014, 9:06 PM

lol. Wow. What expectations. Mike is a true sophomore and Chad is calling him a veteran. I like the pressure. He must see him as having a high ceiling so wanting to push him early on as much as possible.

I could see Morris pushing deshaun

Because he doesn't see himself staying at CU for the duration of deshaun's eligibility but that's about it. I don't think he is ready for it though needs to clean up his mechanics a little still.

morris promised watson a shot @ starting......basically that's all that's going on here. Fulfilling a recruitng promise. There is absolutely no way morris starts a freshman in athens. those reps need to be given to stoudt and kelly. sans an injury those two will be your qbs.

Well I think the other factor is trying to keep Kelly happy. If that kid doesn't legitimately have a chance to play this season he is likely transferring and honestly that is probably in his best interest. I think the job is expected to be Watson's next year.

What makes you think Kelly will not beat Watson for the starting spot, Kelly is trying to beat Stoudt and Watson this year and might do it. He has looked good when healthy and he has been in the offense 2 years.....

If Watson is the best QB, the Watson is the best QB and will start... who cares if he is a freshman if he is the best we got? It will be obvious to all the QBs and Morris who is the best and to Swinney, that is why they are all getting reps with the 1s and the 2s. and against the D1s and the D2s... makes the comparison easier.

great passer. Definitely doesn't have the elite running skills, but I was impressed with his highlights from high school.
