Mild Rant ..... Clemson Tickets ....Love/Hate Relationship

Ok, after trying to upgrade my tickets earlier today with no success and a complete fiasco, right now I am on the "hate" side of my relationship with Clemson Football Tickets/Iptay relationship. I will always love my university, but will remain a little peeved at Iptay. First, I am not upset particularly that I was not able to upgrade my seats. I didn't think much would be available, and although the selection list showed exactly what I wanted, when I clicked on it it said "Seats Unavailable". That's OK. Stupid to show them if not available, but OK. Here is the "hate" part. Iptay knows that they have us over the proverbial barrel. They have exactly zero incentive to treat us like loyal customers and provide service like any other organization that takes your money. What other choice do we have if we want season football tickets? Their customer service is basically non-existant. End of rant!

I stopped buying season tickets when asthma struck me 15 years ago and they would not help me get out of the upper deck after years of contributing.

At this point the only reason I continue to donate to IPTAY is because I already have for so many years and don't want to lose the "equity" I have within their point system. Hopefully, fast forward 30 years of continued donating and I might be able to see the true benefits of being a long-time member.
If I were to give anyone advice if they were on the fence of joining iptay or not. I would tell them only to joint IPTAY if you are a serious donor. I am talking about a minimum of a Mcfadden level (currently at $6,500 per season). Thats 40 points per year of donation, should quickly help you with quality seats, parking, and away/bowl games.
If you are below that I wouldn't recommend it. Just pay for tickets for every game you wish to attend.

That is excellent advice, as generally they use all of their customer service on those that are on the very top of the totem pole. Nothing wrong with that as long as they also treat people in the middle or bottom with a little more respect ...... other than lip service!

I checked with IPTAY in 2017 and they told me to have any hope at a shot at lower deck tickets you would have to be at least at the McFadden level and even at that level lower deck seats were not guaranteed. I found someone selling lower deck tickets for basically seat equity plus ticket price and we have been buying them ever since. They are good seats on the aisle in section C. The folks we buy these tickets from have told us they are ours as long as we want them. I see no reason to change. It’s good for all parties.

THat's really the best way to do it ...... but we have people on here that complain that ticket holders are gouging if they ask more than the ticket price for tickets.

I look at it like we are sharing the IPTAY donation. They are the donors so they get whatever perks come with it but we have become friends and they will order away game or postseason tickets for us at cost if they are not using their whole allotment. It really does seem to work well for everyone.

$250 a piece for nose bleeds these days. People jsut keep on paying too. It won't probably ever go back to rational.

the old guys did not adapt well
now we pay the same or more than UGa and Tenn and LSU fans . don't land recruits . and some watch from seats that can't even compare to tv views
it's sad
i mean
it's so great to be a soccer school ! we're really sticking it to the women's bb school in cootlumbia with that accolade

Football tickets are about big bucks and you have to pay to play. Sadly, years mean nothing and money means everything.

You reach an age (I'll be 80 this year) where it is no longer feasible to continue to go to the games.
I graduated in 1970 and have been a loyal member of IPTAY ever since. Started out in the upper deck and was young enough to make that climb every home game for about 20 years. Then, as my paycheck increased and my knees gave out, I was able to call and switch my tickets to the lower deck. I was perfectly happy with the tickets assigned to us (section T, north stands). We kept those seats for several years until IPTAY made some changes to visitor seats and we were moved down 3 to 4 rows and over next to the aisle. Those seats were terrible as you could rarely see the field as fans continually filled the aisle and we had to stand the whole game to try to see over the crowd in the aisle.
So, last year we made the decision to give up our tickets and watch games on TV (again I will be 80 this year ....night games are a nightmare for an old fart like me...I live 2 hours from the stadium). I won't even go into the parking situation. I will continue to ALWAYS be a CLEMSON fan and will support the Tigers until I die. I just decided to let some younger, higher tax bracket fan have my tickets. GO TIGERS !!!

70TGR ..... we are about the same age and situation. I'm still in good health and walk about 4 miles a day, so I can still get around ...... still work ....... but it gets old fighting traffic and dealing with the crowds. So I don't blame you for bailing on the tickets ..... probably won't be long before I do. It's tough giving them up. Of course, the bottom line is that Iptay doesn't give a hoot, as they know there is someone else waiting for them.

IpTAY and Clemson football is big business these days, so maybe it’s understandable that it’s only the money that matters. I’ve been a season ticket holder for 54 years, and still am. But big screen TVs are excellent and relatively cheap these days, so not too far down the road…….

You might as well just buy tickets for the games you want to attend on the secondary market. There are only a couple worth going to during the season anyway.

You are absolutely right, but for some odd reason I have always felt that I should support the entire program. I wish they felt the same loyalty toward me.
Incidentally, I have a friend that got in on the lifetime IPTAY membership a number of years ago and got some great benefits ...... supposedly for his lifetime. However, it wasn't long afterwards that they started trying to walk back the benefits ..... like his two parking spots in lot 3 (I think) that were as close to the stadium you can get. Every time he got a call for him to "come over and let's talk", he carried with him a letter from whomever initiated the lifetime program and pointed out what he was entitled to. It would shut them up real quick!

It’s a great problem to have! IPTAY does a fantastic job handling this problem.
Watch the games on tv if you like. You will not be missed. 80,000 at almost every home game!
