In high school I had a buddy whose dad was a bigwig at Bi-Lo. Was going up to their stadium suite and someone yelled to hold the door on the elevator. Dale Davis and Elden Campbell both got on and I recall the elevator dropping about a foot when they did.
In Charlotte had a buddy get me into Hendrick’s VIP suite at the All-Star race. Again, heard hold the elevator and Michael Jordan and two huge security guys got on the elevator. I looked at Jordan and went to say something and one guard just looked and me and shook his head “no”.
In Minneapolis, was taking the elevator down to breakfast and I stepped on to find Diamond Dallas Page and Bam Bam Bieglow already on it, looking like hammered shiddd and smelling like a brewery. They hopped off the elevator, walked out front, and got in their rental Escort.
In Baltimore for lax, we were staying at the Vikings team hotel and got on the elevator with some players. Daughter had on Clemson gear and Mackenzie Alexander turned out to be one of the players and started a conversation. Nice guy. This was before he got arrested for beating thehell out of someone.

People come to the elevator doors right as they're closing shrieking that it's Dr J
Door closes. Next floor we stop and the people had sprinted down the stairs and stopped it just to get in with us.
I thought it must be difficult to be Dr J with people freaking out like that all the time. Same thing wherever we walked in that arena

He got on the elevator at The Clemson House (where they lived) and Strom Thurmond was on it and his aide. Brother's roommate didn't say a word and Strom looked at him and said "Do you know who I am ?"
That was the most Strom Thurmondish move ever, except him having a baby at like 72

Non-fun elevator story

was in elevator at Sears Tower in Chicago, the fast one that goes to the top observation deck non-stop.
Fully packed. Somebody in the elevator car emitted a ridiculous SBD beer fart. No one said a word, but it was evident that EVERYBODY in there was aware of it. Eye-watering stench.
That was the longest 2 minutes (whatever the time was) ever.

I'd hate to be the attendant assigned to that elevator. I'm sure he has some awful stories.

Worked out once with LL Cool Jay. Sat in a jacuzzi at the Mariott Courtyard in G'boro with Steve Stricker, his wife and Jimmy Johnson (golfer, not the driver)
BTW - Stricker was really cool. Very friendly guy.
Sat next to Billy Cunningham, Lewis Grizzard (he was drunk, but quite funny) and across from Fritz Hollings, Muggsy and Prime Time on flights.
I was able with all of them to go unrecognized.

Right around the turn of the century
Me: Hey Chris, you know it's Climpson, right? There is no Z is Clemson
Fowler: some people just say it that way (with annoyed look on his face)
Me: I don't call your school Colo-RAY-do now do I?
Door opens, I walk out. Don't think he likes me very much. He has, however, improved over the past two decades

early 1980s I bargained with the new manager to do a repair job in his suite on the 7th floor, main st end of the building.
It took three trips up the elevator and of course I rode the atrium elevator up and down all day being that I was down to doing repairs to damaged work exclusively for me and the building. My bargained reward was dinner for two in the main dining room. Employees, knowing that the tab was paid by the manager thought I was a Fluor Daniel engineer. After the meal a the female assistant manager, who I might have had carnal knowledge of, escorted my wife and I to 'show us around the building,' The tour was not scheduled so she knew what she was doing.
We got on the atrium elevator (all glass if you don't know) and it stopped on the 4th floor. The beautiful assistant manager who led the tour guide had stopped it to 'check something out.'
I wondered why she hadn't taken us to the top (7th) floor to show the beauty of the atrium until I saw a room on 3, the first room on the main st wing which had only the sheer curtains closed. The heavy curtains were wide open.
I noticed a woman kneeling at the bed which sat near the widow facing us with her head bobbing up and down. I'm sure neither of us even smiled and to this day I was terrified that my dear wife knew more than she said. The woman in the room answered the phone and then rushed to pull the drapes.
We never spoke of it and I don't recall ever telling this story, ever until now.

more hours than the Wynn Dixie was giving me at $5.25. Gas was about $0.97 a gallon, Steel Creek wasn't in the way either. No big thing at all really.
I would not do that with current conditions of that area. I do sometimes think of going ahead and building my dream barndominium out on the family land and commuting up to Harris Corners Parkway if the internet options out in unincorporated York County aren't good enough to work from home. I then realize that my commute would be as bad as my worst Charleston commutes and I'd be too far from other stuff I like.

Also in NYC rode with that tiny angry judge Jeanine Pirro lady on Fox News. She seemed a lot less angry off camera.
