How Can you be "all in" and be out Job Hunting?
Nov 29, 2012, 5:05 AM

I wouldn't have hire someone who seems more interested in leaving for the right head coaching job. 1st year and paid over $1 million and he his going on a job interview He hasn't even reached one of our goal of beating the Coots. I think this seemingly lack of commitment hurts recruitment and players attitude. Coming on top of the poor play calling during the Coot game in my opinion

In the real world it's known as professional development. This will be great experience for Chad.

Maybe it will catch on with the players if it hasn't already. Why should Boyd stay and risk getting hurt? He should be thinking about me me me me.

Morris--All this hard work will pay off next year...

Coach are you going to be here next year? Sure, if the right coaching job doesn't come along, I am right there with you all. 1 freakin year. Contracts don't mean a think in this day it seems. I would have demanded a public verbal statement of commitment for at least 3 years in return for that $Million+. No job interviews. Perception is everything in my book

for as much as we arepaying The Chad, I would have had a "no-compete" clause in there. Should the day come, and it will, he would be required to be a HC somewhere outside of the ACC.

would YOU have felt bound by a contract? Nope, you would have demanded he be fired and pay the buyout. Contracts are made of paper, not steel. There is always a way out.

I don't know anyone who would not try for a job that makes more money. You can't blame the guy for trying. If you do then never again try yourself.

at some point in the future. No reason to get bent out of shape about it.
And really we currently have the highest paid OC in the nation and a whole lot of talent. We will have no problem finding a replacement if needed.

So what you're saying is if Morris was a horrible OC with a contract that it's okay to fire him, but as long as he's able to take a better job with more money he should stay because "you" want him to? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

Someday reality will set in for you. OC's and DO's are always in the running and looking for the next offer. Opportunity knocks but one time. As a head coach, you should expect it, and wish them well. Be prepared to bring in the next guy. Play ball!!

I look at it like I would a player looking at the NFL. It's the natural next step and when he makes it will depend on his ability and the opportunities that exist that year. It's a natural transition. One we should expect. Not disloyalty.
