Just got back from the game

Observations:
1. Ian is a warrior. I love his passion and he makes the most out of his ability. I'd love to have one or two more like him. Definite MVP today.
2. The refereeing was actually good, by and large. The exception was a couple of fouls on Hall, but he wasn't having a great game -- or even a mediocre one -- before or after. They let them play, and that's better than blowing the whistle every 15 seconds.
3. The crowd was there, and ready, but the team didn't give a lot to cheer for.
4. 5% 3 point shooting????
5. To the basketball pumpers, when will you realize that we've seen this same movie for a decade and a half? We honestly have more talent than any time in recent history...but the result is the same. But I'm sure year 15 will be different.

Yep, Brad's just about to finally get this program to turn the corner. A few more years should do it. Neff knows.

Unless you give him a full 2 decades, how can he be expected to get over the hump?

Ian is a MAN. I was ready to can Brad years ago, but today most of those 3's weren't tightly contested nor brick misses. I don't see how he is to blame for this loss. He had no attempts.
With the very lenient refs, it was very hard for PJ to do much inside.
If we shot only 28% from 3 we would have won.
This was a weird game, but I don't put the incredibly poor shot making from 3 on Brad any more than I give him credit when the guys are knocking them down.
Our guys except for Ian and Chase just didn't perform well offensively and they lost.

yet Ian was extremely effective inside - particularly in the first half where he scored and put pressure on UNC drawing fouls - but we went away from it completely in the second half.

It seems the last few minutes the plan was

to get the ball to Hall which I did not understand considering he had done nothing for us offensively. Should have designed okay to Schifflen and Hunter for the short jumper.

How lenient were refs if Hall fouled out? He missed inside shots, 3 pt shots, free throws. Can't blame refs for his poor performance

Very lenient. Both Hall and Bacot could have been called for way more than their collective 9 fouls. Not blaming the refs for his misses, just saying it was very difficult for both Hall and Bacot to score inside with all the contact going on.

I didnt realize that for a decade and a half we entered the acc schedule with the number 1 rpi, and only had 3 losses to all quad 1 teams.
Nice!

Good point.
Brownell's teams often wait until the end of the season to suck and disappoint.
Looks like he's ahead of schedule this year -- save us all the suspense.
Thanks.

You would likely be the only one not disappointed by yesterday's performance...or the game against Miami.
This is not the UNC juggernaut of yesteryear. This was an above average basketball team. And we have played well below average the last two games.
We underperformed, which is the historical hallmark of Brownell's teams.
Yes, 5% from 3-point sucks and genuine Clemson fans are disappointed. Only the blind take heart from yesterday's thrashing.

Clearly overrated.
I was in the house yesterday. UNC is a good team. But they're not great by any stretch of the imagination. We we were even less great.
But my point isn't about UNC. It's about a 14-year pattern.
The only thing consistent about Brownell's teams is inconsistency.

i am a life-long Heel fan and Chapel Hill alumnus and this NC team is not a top-10 team... top 25? probably
but like so many teams (including this season's Tigers) today in college basketball, if they shoot well from 3, they can beat anybody...if they shoot poorly, they can lose to anybody
