4-star 2017 offensive guard
Matt Bockhorst will travel to Clemson for an unofficial visit on Friday afternoon.
Bockhorst is a consensus 4-star recruit by all the major recruiting services and was named first-team all-state and first-team all-district his junior season. He has offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Clemson, Duke, Illinois, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Penn State, Toledo and Vanderbilt. TigerNet spoke with Bockhorst on Monday morning and he discussed the main factors that he is looking for in a school. "Respected academic institution with a football program that will challenge me to grow as a man," Bockhorst said. "Not necessarily about wins and losses but I'm looking for a program and a coach that cares about the right things and developing men." Bockhorst also talked about two Clemson coaches that will work hard on him. "Coach Caldwell told me that he will get on me and push me, but he will love me and hold me accountable. Coach Swinney is the same way." The 4-star recruit has already visited Clemson for the Georgia Tech win this past season and came away impressed. "You can definitely tell that Clemson fans love their football that is for sure," Bockhorst said. "Also I thought it was very telling of Clemson's program how Coach Caldwell and a couple GA's ate lunch prior to the game with my family. The accommodations they made for us were great." Clemson is very high on his list of schools at this time in his recruitment. "Clemson is in a very good position with me and I feel people may be downplaying the possibility that I go there." Some of his physical measurables (non-verified) include a 5.25 40-yard dash, 4.68 shuttle, 27.2-inch vertical jump, 305-pound bench press and a 495-pound squat. Possibly the best piece of mail I will ever receive during this recruiting process haha #IPissExcellence pic.twitter.com/R5SNHOXh2C
