Saturday Update

Saturday Update
First let me apologize for not updating yesterday afternoon. From 4:00-5:00 I was making weekend plans with Ryan and his mom and dad. We have had medical emergencies there in Charlotte. Wednesday of this week Ryan woke up throwing up and with diarrhea. He was very sick and it looked like he had a 24 hour bug. The situation turned really bad Thursday night and all day Friday when his mom and dad got the bug but on a much larger scale. His dad was bad but his mom got the worse of it. She actually woke up early Friday morning and fainted and hit her head on the way to the bath room. She is feeling a little better this morning and has decided against going to the hospital. They needed my help but I decided I could not risk the environment. I still may head up today but they are feeling a little better.

Also last night I had to broadcast a high school football game and did not get back until late last night.

Therefore I have had little time to track the Clemson situation until this morning. So here is what I have found out this morning:

*I am not sure if it is because today is Saturday or if the Korn announcement made some amends or if the sources have been told to lock down the information but it is difficult to find anyone with anything new this morning. I usually don’t talk to Terry Don and I am sure he would be right in not talking about things anyway.

*I have talked to three sources that have connections with the board of trustees and they think the board will not do anything. The feeling is the board is not charged with doing anything in this type of matter and they would only want to be informed if Terry Don made a decision. The same can be said for Jim Barker.

*The feeling of the very few I have talked to today is that they would be surprised if Clemson made any move this weekend.

I am going to sit back and watch football this afternoon and head to Charlotte in the morning but will update if I find anything new. At this point I would expect it to be a quiet rest of the weekend.

boooooooooooooooo.

I guess the real decision will be made when bowden finds a way to lose to GT at home. But I can see it now... "what do you expect from a redshirt freshman against a conference opponent?".

I'm losing faith in the administration at Clemson.

Posted by KNIGHTIGER on October 11, 2008 at 02:15 PM EDT #

So, we just keep going through this after every loss?

They either need to announce that TB will be the coach through the end of the season or fire him. This is poor.

Posted by Colapaw on October 11, 2008 at 02:48 PM EDT #

I don't see why they are gonna throw Korn to the wolves with the same predictable play calling. We should be at least hearing that our offensive coordinator has lost his job. Somebody is going to take over play calling, some kind of change! I think Clemson Nation is getting a little perturbed at the lack of motivation by this administration to do something. We have too many great athletes to be in this situation. It is almost embarrassing that Barker or TDP is not doing something. I can't express my anger enough!!!!!!! Do whatever and let the season go down the toilet, I bet Davis wishes he would have got the hell out of town when he had a chance. I believe this hurts him the most, Our team as a whole can't hurt anymore than it is right now. Somebody Help!!!!!!!!!!!Please!!!!!!!!

So is it ok to leave my computer???

On another note: I want to say something concerning the comments yesterday about the F bomb and women and kids reading this site. That and all other "bad words" are only bad because society says they are. The fact is they are only words and it is not a sin to say them. I personally choose not to and that is based solely on my attempt to use the English Language properly. However, I see no reason to get all old school (don't let women and kids hear them) about saying them. In fact, I think it’s ridiculous and incredibly outdated to even mention it. I know women that are offended by comments like those because they are as capable as men of hearing the words and dealing with it. High school students are not "kids". Treating them that way will only result in them acting that way. The whole thing is silly and should not have even been an issue. Bad words are nothing more than bad grammar. That is all, thank you.

saiken79 . . . what?

Mickey -- Please no more "updates" until something actually happens . . . OK? Thanks.

Fire Phillips first, he's the one that gave Bowden the extension...then fire Bowden...he's been aware of Harper's short comings for weeks!!!

Posted by Rabbitjack on October 11, 2008 at 04:56 PM EDT #

what do you expect from clemson, but poor PR.

somebody put up a billboard or run on field, then Clemson will react.

typical Clemson...

I agree with grashad. Do they really think that korn is going to make that big of a difference with the same predictable plays? Our offensive line needs improvement and when they do hold up the opponent knows where the ball will be. Spence and Scott needs to go now. Then move up the ladder. Clemson is not the same aggresive, physical team, and its not because we lack the talent. I am excited to be there next week when korn starts. At least he is a better runner.

Listen,no one expected anything to be done about CTB this weekend, but that dadgum Spence should had been let go Thur nite.

If we keep losing and looking bad Barker will be forced to fire TB before the end of the season. Why? Because this situation will get uglier and could easily spin out of control. Even worse, the coaches could lose the team, which there are hints of already. Barker can't afford to let these things happen because then the blame will be on him for not being in control. If Barker doesn't handle this properly, his job and Clemson's national reputation will be at stake!! An ugly loss to GaTech at home next weekend and Barker might not have a choice.

Posted by flatiger66 on October 11, 2008 at 05:36 PM EDT #

F bomb and profanity is an opinion of society and as saiken79 stated is no more than bad grammar. The issue is not whether we or society find it unacceptable but that of those who run this privately owned blog.

If one does not agree with the blogs censoring the language on the posts, then those individuals need to leave or refrain from such language.

It cracks me up that so many people feel they have the right to tell others what they can and cannot do! (not the OWNERS of the site, but those that merely post their opinions).

If the owner says it is not allowed, well, respect their wishes or be on your way (the same can be said about smoking within a bar -- the right is left up to the owner due to property rights).

What has this country come to? A bunch of sheep bitching about the bitching. When you own something, you have full say (or at least should) over what does and does not happen with that property, period.

Posted by RobertsonCU on October 11, 2008 at 05:55 PM EDT #

Mickey, I hope that your family feels better soon.

Also, I appreciate the update, even if others do not appreciate it.

I think that GT is going to kill us this Saturday. They have an offensive line that is going to hit us in the mouth just like Alabama did and they are goin to gain 400 yards rushing against us. I don't see how TB isn't gone next Monday.

Posted by JohnMa on October 11, 2008 at 06:30 PM EDT #

Keep up the good work Mickey, it is appreciated.

Posted by Kinghunterx5 on October 11, 2008 at 09:24 PM EDT #

We'll know CTB is gone when TDP calls a press conf and CTB will learn it at the same time
- that's how things are done -
- no notice or advance warning -
haven't you all been paying attention?

Posted by cu85tiger on October 11, 2008 at 09:59 PM EDT #

JohnMa - regarding Georgia Tech . . . did you notice today that they barely slipped by GARDNER-WEBB in Atlanta by the score of 10 - 7? GT had a total of 199 yards offense with only 79 yards rushing on 47 attempts. Maybe Clemson's coaches need to figure out what G-W did on defense because it sure shut down those Jackets. Clemson can beat those guys . . . especially in Death Valley!

Posted by diePranke on October 11, 2008 at 10:09 PM EDT #

No Offense. You have done great damage in demoralizing the Clemson Team.

Calling Tommy Bowden's head before the WK game was a KILLER. Can’t you stop spreading poisons?

Tommy Bowden does not deserve to be fired because of his winning records.
But that is not the point I want to make.

James Barker will not fire him as long as TB does not have a losing season.

Public image (Characters) and graduation rate are very important to James Barker. Academic ranking is more important to Barker than Football ranking.

The trustees are like puppets. They are not going to vote against Barker’s wishes. The boosters should not be a factor here. We don’t have a Boone Pickens that is able to tell OKSU whom to hire or fire. If the boosters or IPTAY donors stop giving because TB is not fired, so be it. I doubt seriously they are going to do that if they truly love Clemson. Besides, the boosters may not have the $ to do it because of the economic situation that we are in.

Depressing

Posted by Tiger TC on October 11, 2008 at 10:27 PM EDT #

I love my Tigers & will be in Death Valley getting crazy for all 85 players that chose to come to Clemson over other schools to sweat & fight for my beloved O&W just like I was there in Atl & WF this year. I hope that Tiger Nation will join me in doing the same.

saiken79 & RobertsonCU - I love T-Nation enough that I can't let you be deceived any longer. You both spoke on the matter of cursing which Mickey politely asked for refrain of on his board. R-Cu, you made some good points, but I have to speak to saiken79's comment that "it is not a sin to say them (bad words)" & they're "nothing more than bad grammar." So here is the truth on its description & appropriateness - you choose to read &/or accept it. I hope you will, b/c I hate when others are fooled into thinking such ways.

Posted by Tiger_Bo on October 11, 2008 at 11:53 PM EDT #

*"Out of the same mouth come praise & cursing. My brothers, this should not be."* [If you would please check my quote: google James 3:1-12 ; (10)] The truth is I'm not a perfect, but let's not be fooled into thinking grammar determines appropriateness, much less sinfulness.

I pray this helps your life. Contact me, Bo, w/ any questions that you may have: BoLives4JC@yahoo.com.

Hmm-so now it's Mickey's fault CTB is in hot water?? Mickey is responsible for demoralizing the team. Hey Mickey--when did you get so POWERFUL???

Winning records--count the number of 2A FCS teams we beat and teams below .500

TBolt--how do you know what Barker will do??

The trustees are puppets??? Really?? Better review your history regarding the Danny Ford situation.

Boosters and donors not a factor---money is ALWAYS a factor.

CTB has a 2.2 million dollar package courtesy of Clemson University. He has done all the academic and discipline aspects as well as facilities extremely well and professionally. However, we are a 2nd tier program--a laughing stock on ESPN. RS is a HUGE problem but CTB will not fire him. Therefore, CTB thinks more of RS than Clemson--who pays his salary. Enough is enough.

How ironic that RobertsonCU uses profanity in his post defending Mickey's right to censor profanity. Nice job, Jason!

And Robertson is the guy who, just yesterday, suggested that Mickey blacklist me, even though I've never posted profanity or personal insults? Ironic indeed.

To Tiger_Bo

Please go to Tiger Board to read my complete letter (Includes 34 VT players that Beamer recruited) to Mickey Plyler. This blog only allows me to type 1000 characters. My letter to Mickey Plyler on this blog is not a completed one.

The trustees will do whatever Barker said.

I don't want to argue with you.

I sit right below the coaches box and I promise you I will encite Fire Tommy cheers until I get thrown out of my expensive ass seats. I will stare down the moron that is Rob Spence until he wets his panties. This is beyond Freaking insane.

IF YOU WANT TO QUOTE THE BIBLE GO TO CHURCH PLEASE. GOD HAS MORE IMPORTANT CRAP TO DO THAN CLEMSON FOOTBALL.

I give 3k a year to IPTAY and basically grew up in Clemson. For the second time in my 36 yrs, last week being the first, I hope we get our ass handed to us. Just like military boot camp we have to completly break down before we can build back up because our decision makers are jack-asses. What the hell is beating GT gonna do for the good of the program????NOT A DAMN THING.

I SAY WE BOO, I SAY WE CUSS, I SAY WE DONATE NO MORE UNTIL A CHANGE IS MADE. IT'S CALLED TOUGH LOVE. We are just enabling the crack baby that is Tommy Bowden if we continue to root for his sorry ass addiction to mediocrity. If the players feelings get hurt so be it, they are getting a free ride, and it's no secret that they aren't tough enough anyway. Every opposing coach has stated that if you hit Clemson in the mouth they will crumble, and sadly we know this is true.

ROLL ON RAMBLING YELLOW BUGS or whatever the hell their cheer is.

I know trustees are puppets.

1. Danny Ford resigned

Ford did not have the support from the Clemson president Max Lennon. Of course, the trustees voted Ford out to please Max Lennon.

And Tommy Bowden has the support from James Barker.

Per ClemsonWiki.com: President Max Lennon took a different view of collegiate sports dormitories and training facilities in light of new NCAA athletic rulings than did Coach Ford. In what is possibly THE power struggle demonstrated at Clemson between the forces of academia and sports, Danny Ford came out on the losing end of the power stick and resigned on January 18, 1990. His position was not strengthened by a series of team member scrapes with the law.

End of the story.

Good night.

TIGERBOLT,

You and Wiki are incorrect and you are a fool.

NC State was building a palace of a football dorm and our players had recruiting brochures showng it and talked about how much it was going to help State's recruiting. I know, I was THERE!!!

The NCAA rule outlawing football-only dorms came out of the blue over a year after Ford and the university came to a mutual understanding and Ford stepped down.

Why would NC State spend tens of millions, and Ford fight tooth and nail, over something if they knew it was about to be outlawed by the NCAA? THEY WOULDN'T!!! You and Wiki are WRONG!!

If you continue to go to the games then you are part of the problem period. If you dont show up there will be no choice but to fire him

I was a continuous member of IPTAY starting my senior year in '88 and was giving over $2000/yr and buying season tickets until 2 years ago, when I stopped giving completely. I'll re-up the day TB is sent packing!

This is Tiger_Bo. Thanks for the love guys. I hope that you all will realize that your name goes below your post.

I just want to repeat: I love my Tigers & will be in Death Valley getting crazy for all 85 players that chose to come to Clemson over other schools to sweat & fight for my (our) beloved O&W. Yes, I was in Atl & WF this year & felt the disappointment, but consider the fact that the players in that locker room have a lot more invested than you do in the outcome of the games. Don't flatter yourself by stating the $$$ u give. They give their lives for the better of 250 days per year for 3-5 years.

I hope that Tiger Nation will join me @ DV this Saturday & cheer wildly when The Tigers play for us & themselves.

I'm just tired of it all. I've been a CU fan for 40 years and IPTAY member for the last 10 years. I now live in Oklahoma and I am depressed at the level my team has sunk. The entire coaching staff needs to be fired and soon for the same of the university, the fans, the supporters, and more than anything else the athletes. We have such a great group of guys and we are doing them a disservice with this substandard coaching staff. Our recruiting will go down hill until something happens - if you were a HS blue-chip and saw this would you come to CU? Someone on the staff at CU needs to have some nads and do the right thing. It's been 10 years of the same old crap and I will not support this in any manner until a change is made. I emailed my opinions to Barker, Phillips, the Greenville News, and Anderson Independent. I recommend you do the same or more!

Signed - "lost in loserville"!

Posted by jcool on October 12, 2008 at 10:23 PM EDT #

bo, it's called tough love, and sometimes you have to lose in the short run to win in the long run. barker needs to see we are fed up to get rid of his golden boy bowden. hurting the bottom line is how you do that. boycotting a few games now will ensure bowden's release, which will be better for clemson, and the players, in the future. people like you that don't get it must follow orders for a living. those of us that make decisions for a living understand things like 'the bottom line' and making short term sacrifices and tough decisions to ensure a better future.

Tiger BO, it's all about the money. Let me remind you what IPTAY stands for.

Y ear

It,s not like the players are in the coalmines either. There are quite a few perks that offset a little practice time. Everyone looks out for the football team, from the professors to the cush summer jobs full of $100 handshakes, hot women, not to mention a free education, national television exposure, getting to beat the snot out of people and not go to jail, free clothes, free shoes, being a hometown hero, hot women, and the list goes on and on.

If my son was on crack for 250 days a year, would you want me to cheer him on loudly with more cash. I think I would cut off his funding(IPTAY),send him to rehab(our football program), and try to help my community get rid of the crack dealers(The coaching staff). A quick hit from the crack pipe(a win over GT or anybody else) is not going to help anybody in the long term except put bigger rims on the crack dealers car.
