Friday E-Mail Bag

Friday E-Mail Bag
Each Friday I publish your comments and answer your questions. To submit a comment or questions please e-mail me at mickeyplyler@hotmail.com.

Mickey,
It was good seeing Ryan last night. He looks wonderful. You guys continue to bless people. Tell him we enjoyed him on the radio this morning.

God Bless!
Brent

Brent,
Thanks for the kind words. I was surprised to get Ryan down this weekend. BTW-Sorry about missing the blog yesterday but I had to go and get Ryan at the last minute and was out of town most of the day. The rest of the day I spent with Ryan and could not get around to a blog. Anyway, thanks for the nice words and I will tell him you said hello.

Mickey,
Did I miss your comments on this week’s blow up at Clemson? The Greenville News and Anderson Independent and they had front page stories on the Clemson professor soiling the beans on how they manipulate the numbers in an attempt to break in the Top 20 of the US News and World Report. I did not read anything on the blog about it. I only get to hear about 45 minutes of your radio show each day but did not hear anything about it. Did I miss your comments?

Thanks,
Jackson

Jackson,
You did not miss any of my comments. I decided to pass on this one at this time. In the past I have been outspoken enough that readers and listeners know where I stand on most issues. This is related to sports but more indirectly. Also there seems to be a lack of transparency and both sides attempt to spin. My feelings on Top 20 are probably better expressed at a different time and place. I have strong opinions but in most cases I try to spend a majority of my time on the blog and radio show talking about sports. Sometimes they are more directly related than others. Get in touch with me off of the air and I will tell you my thoughts.

Mick,

I was out of the country when I heard the news about Terrence Oglesby. Any chance he could change his mind? What will the starting line-up look like without T.O.?

Go Tigers!
Kenny

Kenny,
I went over the positives and negatives of Oglesby’s game in a blog last week and hope you will find that blog insightful. I don’t see him changing his mind and I was told he might have already signed with an agent.

Here is what each position could look like next season-
PG-Demontez Stitt returns as the starter but he will continue to get pushed by Andre Young.

SG-Tanner Smith will play the 2 and 3 positions this year. He is probably more of a 3 but will get more minutes at the 2 now. Donte Hill will have to make the adjustment to the college game as a freshman but he is a defensive stopper. Also look for Stitt and Young to play in the backcourt at the same time.

SF- David Potter is the most experience player here and he played some 4 last season. Smith can play the 3 as well. However freshman sensation Milton Jennings will get minutes here and at the 4. Bryan Narcisse played some 3 and four last year and his defense will help.

PF-Jerai Grant is a 4 and a 5 and could be in the starting lineup. Devin Booker will play in the post as a true freshman as well.

C-Trevor Booker is the best player on the floor next season for the Tigers. Catalin Baciu will continue to improve and should grab more minutes as a sophomore.

The team will look more like a Purnell coached team next season because they will press more and become a better defensive team.

Mickey,
Korn or Parker?
Sumter Tiger

Sumter Tiger,
Ask me in late August. Dabo Swinney and Billy Napier don’t know right now so I don’t know either. Ask me again in late August.

Comments:

I, for one, would like to hear your thoughts about the professor's comments last week. I have my own thoughts, but would like to get some feedback from others who may know more. I can see how some of the points she mentioned would be detrimental to athletics.
