After his tryout, did Cullen Harper end up making the Bills' roster (or that of any other pro team) for next year? What's his status?

Harper had a try out as a free agent with the Bills but I have not heard when. I am not sure of his status but I think it is a long shot with any NFL team this season. Some undrafted free agents have a better chance than others but my opinion is that Harper will have a hard time.

Good question on the current quarterback situation. I am not sure anyone knows the future of the position at Clemson. I don’t think Parker or his family knows what is in the cards for him at this point. He will be draft eligible but the key will be next season and where he is drafted. He also will have some leverage with football but some teams will be skeptical because of football.

I think it is a fascinating subject but no one knows what will happen. I do like the fact that Willy Korn and Tajh Boyd will also be in the picture just in case. Also remember that those guys have a chance at the starting job.

In summary, we still don’t know who will be the starting quarterback in August. We certainly don’t know how the quarterbacks will play in 2009. We don’t know how Parker will play next season on the diamond. We don’t how high he will be drafted or what it would take for him to leave. At this point there are too many unknowns that Parker, Dabo and Jack could not even know.

I have not talked to anyone at Clemson about Oglesby’s academic status but I do not think there was much concern from an academic standpoint. I had not heard of any concerns. I think his decision came down to his style of play may be better suited for Europe as opposed to Clemson. Plus he has a chance to sign a nice contract and make some significant money there.

I wrote a blog a few weeks ago about support but I know you are referring to last week’s radio comment I made about another recent incident.

I met with some Clemson officials last week on the subject. I wanted clarity and understand the issue even more after the meetings. I was asked not to make a big splash on this one as they try to work out the issues behind the scenes and without public pressure. I only want to be part of the solution and not part of the problem so I want to give them a pass on this specific case until they work it out.

Just a couple points in response on this subject—your e-mail mentioned the rift between the administration and the athletic department. There are clear facts that support that to be the case. However, there are also support issues within the athletic department as well.

Oliver Purnell, Dabo Swinney and several other coaching staffs do not get the full support they need. We are told publically about “One Clemson” and Purnell and Swinney do their part. However they are not given full support.

Winning is difficult when everyone is on board but it is much more difficult when full support is an issue. I just wish Clemson made athletics the priority that they say they do. I hear the talk. I just want to see the walk.

I know this is not the answer you are looking for but let’s let the officials try to work this specific case out. If it gets to the point where it needs to be exposed on a bigger scale and we can all be part of the solution then we can all get involved again. The blue print is the AARC fiasco. They could not handle it, so the situation was exposed and the Clemson family took ownership when they learned of the situation. If it gets to that point on this case we can all make a difference again.

At this time, I have concluded that this is the best way to handle the current issue. This will give Dabo and Purnell the best chance to get more support which is what we all want. If there is not advancement then we all can get involved again.
