Restricted to a running game and throwing to the sideline?

I have attended all of the home games this year, as I always do. I think it is quite clear our offense is very hesitant to throw the ball deep, or frankly downfield much at all. What a change from the "Clemson Offense" that was going to stay with us when Rich Rodriguez and Chad Morris left. I guess I don't understand why we still recruit the absolute best quarterbacks in the country each year, but now feel restricted to a running game or passes to the sideline?

And with the restriction to the sideline pass scheme, we play the quarterback with the slowest/telegraphed release and with the worst touch! I just don't get it.
