Active duty and retired! There’s a lot going on in the world and to those of you serving today or those who have served THANK YOU! You and your families sacrificed so we Americans have the freedoms we have. People, whether you like our military or whether you agree with them or not, you need to respect and appreciate them because they are willing to give their life for you.

Yes, and the good ones are leaving by the droves. They refuse to be brainwashed into being liberals.

Enlisted recruiting and enlisted/officer retention is awful.
We have a huge problem on our hands and no one is doing anything about it except lowering the bar. The Navy is now accepting non-HS graduates.

I can tell you plenty about the Air Force and Air Guard. Biden's liberals have destroyed our military. You know about the 'You're hurting my feelings' card? If an officer or instructor seems to be chewing you out and you don't want to take it or the training is too physical they have this card they hold up and they have to be left alone ...... for the rest of the day if that's what they want.

Non-HS graduates? That is ridiculous....and sad.
I'm active Army, we are hurting for folks. I think one mistake was going to the BRS instead of the straight "20 years, 50%" retirement. Also, the fact that you get trained to do a job.....and, don't get to do that job unless deployed. Mostly all done by GS or contractors now in garrison. Young Soldiers don't have a job, besides BS details, so where is the sense of pride?
My MOS is a small one, we have 148 positions, AC-wide. And, we are at 133 strong....several folks just getting out. Or, if they are near 20 yrs, that's all they're doing.

Blended Retirement System. Basically, the military retirement for folks coming in now is like a 401K.
Pro: You can get out and have some $ saved up without having to do a full 20.
Con: there is no real benefit for a Soldier doing 20 years now....

Sadly I think it is. Had a dad stand in church Sunday to recognize his son who was visiting. The guy at the end of the pew looked fit, but no--it was the chunky young man sitting next to him.
I think of an AF guy I know who's maybe 5'10" and gotta be 275 at least. I don't know how he does it, unless they're hurting that bad for people that whatever goes.

I echo that. I spent 8.5 years in the Navy.

But, I was never in harm's way. I trained others to go into harm's way. Taught at Naval Nuclear Power School for 6 years then spent 2.l5 years at Boot Camp training recruits. (All 8.5 years in Orlando.)
I was in from 1977-1985.
I don't talk politics on this board. But I will say this, if I were 25 years old and had the opportunity to join the military I would respectfully decline. I'd ask myself this question, "Is America today worth dying for?"

My response was placed, by me, at the wrong spot in the thread.
And, I was in a bad mood. My post was more a reflection of my concern for America, not directed as much at the military.

Obama, hated America and hated our military more. He gutted the military of qualified leadership at all levels. He filled the void with America hating commies like him. Fast forward to today and try to find the snake eaters. They have been replaced with DEI "experts", ergo we now have drag shows, sex change clinics and every depravity known to man accepted and promoted in our military.
The sole purpose of our once proud military is to kill people and break things.

you are exactly correct....this is our current military and my advice to any young man or woman in this country would be to stay home, protect and provide for your family on US soil. Don't go to war to line Lindsay Graham, Joe Biden, Nikki Haley, Mitch McConnell, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer's and the entire defense industries pocket with billions of dollars.

And thats why I got out after spending a little over 10 years in the Air Force. Wanted to retire from the military but things were just getting too political and becoming a “yes man” bunch of crap so I got out. Would really hate to see exactly how things are now.

I think the Marines are the only ones that are meeting their quota. I wonder why that is? Maybe because they still demand discipline and do not cut corners in their standards. Even our last Commandant, as hard as he tried, could not rid the Marines of their long traditions ...... other than disbanding armor (tanks) and field/ground artillery. I'm not sure the new Commandant is any better since he was the last ones right hand man. I never thought I would see a Commandant who thought being woke was a good idea.
This Lt. Col. has it exactly right.

12 years in and counting. Like it or not the incentive amongst todays youth isnt there. It isnt just a political issue. Todays younger generation would rather be internet famous or be a social media influencer. Additionally, only about 10% actually qualify due to medical or legal concerns. These issues added with a job that doesnt pay great, requires physical fitness, and hard work isnt appealing to our youth. Im only in my 30s and some of our younger troops can only talk about wanting to be done for the day so they can video game all day. Throw in the norms of standardized dress and hair appearance and they are always complaining. These are problems across the board. Kids from rural and city backgrounds just arent interested anymore.

......and the good ones have, and are, leaving by the droves. They try to brainwash our service folks every day to accept every ungodly democrat liberal thing known to the devil. They want the older ones (our best ones) out because they won't convert to wokeism and the military can take the Hitler approach and find it easy to get the young ones to conform to the liberal platform.
Around twenty-five or twenty-six have left the base where my son was. This squadron was considered the most elite in all of the Air Force or the Air Guard. You being in the Air Force should know which base has won the most elite award of all squadrons an unprecedented three years in a row. Some have left with only one or two years to go for retirement. A combination of wokeism and our entitled snowflake generation has ruined the military.

Lots of military families are telling their children to stay away from the military. Biden and the liberals have ruined it. Really sad what's happening to this country because of these evil people.
