Recruiting...

Lots of smoke that OSU and Tennessee are now the favorites to land Sanders and Petty is a heavy tread towards FSU. Also, it has been said that Young is being heavily pursued by Tennessee now. Appears we may not lead for any of our primary targets heading into our late May OV weekend.
Early on it was stated that neither of these recruitments were going to be about NIL, especially Sanders but with the players now involved that appears to have changed. For Petty, going to school with his sister was a high priority but it has become apparent FSU is very aggressive using NIL as a pay for play.
There seems to be a pattern developing over the last 3 years. If we don't land a recruit by the official weekend, we usually miss. Meaning, if we don't close the deal on our early offers by late May, we are out of it. Also, we don't offer a secondary primary OV weekend, only one offs that don't offer a big buzz event.
Two thoughts. Regardless what a recruit says about NIL, it most cases, it is not a matter of if but when NIL will come into play. We need more Peter Woods' but I am starting to think he is a unicorn. Also, maybe it is time to add a late in season official visit weekend to circle back with top recruits that may be questioning the legitimacy of any promised NIL offers from other school as well as effects of coaching changes. I mean, do we roll into late November with 3-4 open scholarships hoping we can make a late strong push. Most schools already do this by massively over signing but we need to do this more on a more generous selective basis.

When the new revenue sharing and salary cap begins, and with luxury tax on anything over 29 million up to 30 million, if we don't have 30 million to buy players, we are toast as far as any CFP SPOTS.

under the table, lots of free chow, maybe a car and possibly a cheerleader (FEmale preferably) and lots of rah-rah talk and win one for the gipper were the mantra.
Today it’s the wild-wild west of $ which maybe it should have been more of since the product (players) was what made it all click & succeed..
but to make it worst earlier was the greedy and/or non-loyal head coaches and their huge salaries as well as leaving one school for another without a good-bye which in essence finally woke up the sleeping bear, aka Player..and we have what we have!
Bottom line is there’s no longer, for most players, a personal loyalty or desire to be loyal to a particular college sports team who can’t pony up the $..
and the most hurt overall are the supporting fans whose wallets are being emptied thru various donation organizations, high ticket sale prices, multiple cable viewing outlets and costly online offers.
Enjoy the NFL’s official mini-version of “amateur college football” at your favorite campus & stadium.
