Interesting, to say the least. I'll take anywhere in the top 20 and be happy.

Not returning to many PPG

Even if Chase H. returns, the Tigers only have about 35 points returning to the lineup as is. Thinking about 10 each between Hunter & Scheifflin to go with about 5 each Wiggins & Godfrey. The rest of the bench combines at about 5 total. HOPEFULLY, the redshirts, transfers & freshmen will be able to contribute quickly.

We really need Hemenway to finally be healthy. If that’s not realistic, we need to portal in a shooter. Girard was huge for this team.

If Chase is back I believe we will be solid. If not we better grab a PG from the portal.

Presence of hall and chef made chase good. So I disagree.

I disagree. If Godfrey develop like my man sChief, then he can score in the paint. Also think Wiggins could light it up too.
I know my opinion hasn't been popular but one thing I've despised about Brad, especially this year, is NOT giving these guys a chance to play. Plenty of games where we could have won by 12 instead of 22.
But I do agree, just like this past year, no way we make the run without jg3 and Clark down the stretch.
If he misses on transfers then we're lucky to make the nit and it won't matter if chase comes back or not. And chase ain't cutting it in the NBA. He'll be lucky to get a spot in euro ball.

Everyone is forgetting about this guy coming in after being redshirted. He was an all conferece player in no question the best mid-major league Mountain West Conf. Can really shoot it at 6-5, and has gained 15 lbs of muscle in the off season. Link:

We returned 60+% of our minutes played and offensive production this year. We averaged 74 ppg last year so only needed to replace roughly 30 points per game. Girard covered more than half of that. We returned an experienced unit that was able to plug and play a significant scorer. Even if Chase comes back (who actually averaged less ppg than last season), we have to hit on two Joe Girard level scorers just to maintain status quo. No one off the current bench is gonna make up a significant portion of Girard/Hall’s 33+ ppg. Leyte may be able to contribute but he averaged 8 ppg in the Southern Conference. He can help, but he is not going to replace Hall/Girard’s scoring. I can already hear someone saying “he doesn’t have to replace it all” but there are only 5 guys on the floor and and every minute he’s out there will be falling further short of those numbers. Hall and Girard averaged 29 and 33 minutes and played every game. That’s a lot to replace. We also had 4 players play and start every single game. That’s incredible continuity and, frankly, good luck.

Why hasn’t Hall declared yet? If Brownell thinks he’s definitely not coming back.

comment...."The Demon Deacons went 11-9 in what was a loaded ACC."
I wonder what his opinion of the ACC was, before the tourney started, when virtually every media person was convinced the ACC was pitiful!
Two other interesting notes...Duke, UNC & Clemson were in his top 10, but not another ACC team in his top 32! He lists about 70 teams total and UVA is nowhere in sight!

If Chase returns next season, things could be interesting. Picking up a transfer play, preferably for the front court would be a huge boost.
Starting 5: C. Hunter Wiggins Hemmingway Scheiffelin Godfrey
Pick up 1 or 2 of the following in the portal:
Mark Mitchell (Duke) G Vladislav Goldin (FAU) C Oumar Ballo (Zona) C Cade Tyson (Belmont) F Otega Oweh (Oklahoma) F Danny Wolf (Yale) C

Regarding the production issues that could be fo concern, aside from the game against Alabama, Hunter channeled his inner Stitt.
Hunter has the ability create points. This will be an unpopular opinion, but I believe the Tigers were better without Hall. When Hall was in the game, Brownell's game plan was obvious. I also believe Hall turned into a Diva toward the end of the year.
We can't live and die by the three, so we do need better play in the paint, but that doesn't have to come from a big.
Give Hunter and Wiggins the freedom to drive the rim. Let Godfrey and Scheif pop screens to open a lane and clear the middle.
We lost a lot of possessions when we were having an off day shooting the three. Giving away easy rebounds and fast break opportunities to teams, even the mediocre ones, lost us all but 2 of the games last year.
Defense wins Championships, ask UConn. Playing in the paint, putting teams in foul trouble (Zona) and kicking out for an open three every 3 or 4 possessions will keep teams guessing.

Hall on the bench allowed others to get in the flow of the game. He is slow and without any real post moves, plus a liability on the perimeter. Defensively, well, that’s why he was on the bench… he can’t defend an active post player without fouling him.

And is that the last one?
I don't know if anyone noticed Girard's post-game presser when asked about transferring to Clemson, but he never mentioned Brownell by name. He talked very highly of the people at Clemson, the fans, the community. He was amazed at everything and name dropped players he made bonds with.
Following Girard, Brownell instead of being gracious towards Girard transferring, he said that Girard was lucky they recruited him.
Now, whether this has anything to do with Godfrey leaving or it has any weight or bearing on other players mind, that caught me surprise that night. So of course, now I question it.
