This is the byproduct of prioritizing command first over velocity. Barring injury, he should gain 2mph on his fastball over the next 2 years. This will make his changeup even more lethal. I wish more developmental pitching coaches took this approach.
I think we will see similar results from McGovern over the next 2 years as well. If he can get his fastball to 89-91mph it will play more like 94-95 with his current command and ability to throw an elite breaking ball.

I agree, he reminds me of Jordan Montgomery alil bit with his nasty breaking stuff. If he develops that fastball with control, he'll be a future weekend starter for sure. I think he'll help us out the pen this year in the post season.
