Our QB room looks scary in a bad way

After Cade, it really doesn't look like much is there. Nobody knows what we have in CV yet, but typically with our guys if they don't come in right away and are able to play, they usually don't improve a ton after that (maybe Riley can change that though). Then, after him it's all walk-ons. Dabo hypes up Pearman, but history suggests his hype is mostly coach speak and hope. In other words, it looks like we are totally screwed if Cade gets hurt.

it worries me that we saw none of CV last year. He could have gooten a few snaps and still redshirted. Instead we got bupkus. I'm not talking about sitting CK though someone should have gotten some play after some of his mistakes. I just worry if there was much there we'd have seen him or TP some

snaps - that’s happened the last several years. QB is the biggest impact but not the only 1. We used to have a number of blowouts against decent teams which garnered plenty of snaps for reserves and built depth and readiness. It’s not ok just to win games if you expect the program to reload and not rebuild year to year

This… qbs making the jump are gonna make mistakes and you want them to get the playing time wary in their career against conference opponents bc even 4 games in mop up time (not just handing it off but actually going through reads and making passes) is very important in a qbs development ImO… and we just haven’t had any type of leads the last few years to allow qbs to get meaningful snaps. I really hope we open the offense up and actually beat ppl not just play not to lose and get some of these guys reps when it matters.

The fact is, everything after Cade is a total question mark for fans like us.

We haven't seen a single practice and none of the back-ups have played in a game (well almost). It is concerning that CV was not good enough to spell CK any at all last year when he struggled. Of course, in Dabo and Riley's eyes, maybe CK never struggled enough to warrant a sit-down. As forpearman, we have no idea how good or capable or ready he is.
I take some comfort in the fact that we did not more agressively pursue a QB recruit this past cycle. That tells me that our coaches see things we can't possibly see, and believe getting another QB was not a priority. Neither Dabo or Riley are perfect or infallable, but both have coached teams at the very highest level, know a lot more than we do, and know talent and potential, as well as our needs better than we do. And once again, of course they could be wrong. We'll see, but I'm not gonna sweat it just yet.
Looking forward to the spring game. Typically we don't get a ton of insight from it, but we'll see more of these backup QB's than we ever have.

I think he def struggled and made some bad decisions in their eyes… but it was his first year playing so ImO it was kind of expected. If he would have gotten meaningful snaps last year especially when he earned them… it may have looked a little diff maybe

Almost every team doesn’t have anything past QB one. Look ant Bama last season. They almost lost to South FL with their backups. Our hope is that Cade turns into a quality QB1 this season. If not we are looking at another 8-9 win season. Unless CV makes big leaps this off season.

CV would have been a 5 star if he committed SEC

i think George McIntyre should decommitt due to NIL issues at Tenn
I feel like CV can be better than KB . CV has a blue collar upbringing and is not a prep star type QB

How can u say he's better than KB when he hasn't done a thing. CV needs to show something. Barely played last year and that says a ton.

I wouldn’t say it’s crazy scary, and in theory another off season should mean CV should be up to par as a backup. That being said it would have been nice to get another QB3 in the room with the way we had some people leave.

you have no idea what we have or don't have... what team knows they have a great backup? Texas has no idea if Arch Manning is a hero or a goat, he didn't play last year... coaches see CV every day and know if he's ready to make the leap, Tyson is a mature backup.

Not too many schools can take losing their starting QB.... we were very deep in the QB room during our DW and TL years. I was impressed how Dabo was able to hold onto highly rated backups for so long.
We shall see what we have in the spring game. I would like to see the D be able to go live against all QBs except Cade, but we are too thin to allow that to happen.
In TLs freshman year when he was a mid-year enrollee and we had TL, KB, CS, and the kid that went to NW, it was awesome to see a spring game where the QBs were live. Very rare to see in today's game.
