I have been blessed by Clemson Football

18

Oct 23, 2023, 12:40 PM

I started at Clemson in 1975. That year, our team was 2-9 and lost to Alabama 56-0. My Junior and Senior years we went to the Gator Bowl. My parents happened to live in Jacksonville during that time which was awesome for me and my friends. In between, I saw some great games. I got to see us play against Lawrence Taylor at UNC, Herschel Walker (who never scored in DV), Joe Montana and ND, George Rogers at SC, and of course, I got to see Woody Hayes punch Charlie Bowman in the Gator Bowl. Admittedly, I had been over-served so that memory is a little fuzy.

I also got to see many great Clemson football players like Steve Fuller, Dwight Clark, Fridge, Perry Tuttle, Jerry Butler, Archie Reese, Stan Rome, Jim Stuckey, Bennie Cunningham, etc. And 2 years after I graduated, I got to see Clemson win its first NC.

Nineteen years ago, I moved to Arizona and as luck would have it, I got to attend (3) Fiesta Bowls where Clemson beat Ohio St. twice and lost 45-40 in an epic game with Alabama. Shortly after, I got to see 2 more NCs.

So yes, Clemson football means the world to me. And if I come across as one of the 1.5%ers, it is only because I hate where things are trending right now. Some will say that makes me a bad fan and I will accept their criticism.

I just wanted you to know my background and where my perspective comes from. Some of us may sound awful to you with our criticisms and concerns. But make no mistake, WE LOVE CLEMSON FOOTBALL!

You and I have been in alot of stadiums together. I was at those 1977 & 78 Gator Bowls. Man, Pitt kicked our butts in 77. Was only 7 at the time. I-95 was packed with Tiger fans going south...

You don't have to apologize for anything. You are a great fan. Ppl can go too far in their complaints...but ####, if there isn't plenty that needs fixing. Again, I'm told Dabo recognizes this; the start to this year may force him to speed up planned changes......

That Pitt team was very good that season too, all their players were healthy for that game.

That Pitt team was stacked. Matt Cavanaugh went off on us and set a Gator Bowl record for passing yards. Jimmy Johnson was Pitt's DC and Hugh Green was on the DL.

I feel very blessed by the games I have seen and hoping there are a couple of more NCs in my future before I depart this world.

JR, I really hope what you're hearing is true.

We may need to just sit back this year and try to find whatever enjoyment we can on this season's very bumpy ride.

Biiitch as I may, I'll be right back there cheering on my Tigers this Sat and next.

All we can do now is hope for the best starting with NC State. A program whose coach and fans are a favorite to hate on.

Dude, you have nothing to apologize for....

I love reading your posts. You come across as nothing but a devoted, knowledgeable fan, I think, like most of us on some level or another.

I think all of this angst that we all feel comes from devotion to our team. We simply express it in different ways. No one likes seeing the team they love slowly decline.

Are you a closet 1pt5er, because you don't seem to be outwardly?

Maybe you have deep seeded tendencies of which we're not aware? FM has restraining orders for good reason, which court orders say can't be spoken of publicly.

Don't ever let the bastiches get you down, Tiger.

I wish you would have told me about FM before I talked to him so much. He may now be able to figure out where I live...

Good perspective

I do get exhausted by some fans who believe they are more aggrieved and personally hurt by losses than the next Clemson fan.

It su x when we lose and pain and frustration is felt by all.

You use the correct word "BLESSED"

I too have been blessed. Clemson was not very good when I went there with Hootie and other coaches.

But I have been blessed to be at both National Championships that we won under Dabo as well as Danny in 1981.

It took 35 years but we finally got that second championship (which quite frankly will always believe we would have gotten under Danny except for some very poor judgment).

I will always have ORANGE blood.

GO TIGERS

here's what Dabo ane "pumpers" don't understand........

Oct 23, 2023, 1:56 PM

"BANDWAGON FANS" leave.........they disappear when things go south. They don't stick around message boards trying to explain to ignorant fans and coaches what truly plagues their beloved program.

so.......If Dabo is "hearing it" from "1.5%ers", they're likely not "bandwagon fans"..........or else they'd simply disappear and won't be heard from again until success/"elite" returns.
