Les Miles is famous for his mismanagement , late in games , of the clock. And he didn’t disappoint in this game either. Clemson should have never had the time to make that last drive. Les inexplicably passed on 3rd and short with a pretty good run game. Crazy how a guy once deemed , one of the best in the game, ended up at Kansas and then cancel cultured while a up and coming Dabo went the opposite direction.
I still believe with or without this win, Clemson was coming. It did somewhat alert the National media to Clemson football going into the next season

This post won’t age well but back when our fan base wasn’t a bunch of spoiled brats….I celebrated that game like we won a National Championship.
That was the beginning of the healing process and getting rid of my PTSD of the 90’s Tommy West era football and the heartbreak roller coaster ride of ups and downs of the Tommy Bowden era……
The DJU seasons have been frustrating but Dabo has built a program of stability capable of weathering storms…..

Indeed. That was one of the best, but not THE best, feelings in CU fball history.

Exactly. Expectations set feelings. It was like a miracle.

It was the highest Clemson moment since the 2003 lip quiver end of season run.
That's why that 2004 GT loss was so terribly, horrifically brutal.

His RB was picking up 5 or 6 yards per carry but inexplicable he threw the ball instead ...... crazy!

Actually, no. His rbs had a few good runs, but we had stopped them on several 3rd and short plays. They were not running all over us. They were pretty mediocre, at best. Couple that with his fan base screaming that they were too conservative, im not surprised. That team had Jarvis Landry and OBJ at wr. On that last series, they passed on 1st down and got 8 yards. Their problem was mettenberger. He was horrible as a QB.

As I remember, It was 2nd and 2. They threw 2 incompletes and punted . You know the rest. Surely they could have 2 yard on two runs----------

Sammy Watkins crushed out of the gate almost ruined my New Years. One of the more entertaining games. Another one of my favorites isthe 2003 season (2004) Peach Bowl win over TN.

If I remember correctly, Malliciah Goodman made some money that night too.
That was a great feeling and great night to be a tiger.

The night that Clemson got the monkey off their back and the program blossomed into greatness.

Good morning brother, can you send some cooler air down this way? Been cooking at over 100 for last couple weeks. Hope you and family doing well and try not to choke on all that Bucknut propaganda

Hey brother sorry I just now seen your post...I actually won tix to this game and went down with by best friend from childhood...best New Year's Eve Ever
I would love to send you some cooler air but unfortunately it is full of Canadian wildfire smoke...It is really surreal how hazy it is during the day....You can tell the sun is shining but it cannot fully breakthrough & it makes for an unusual brightness with the haziness

Miles chose to throw the ball instead of run it.
What a night that was!
Thanks for the memories!

Although 37 yards is a chip shot for a lot of kickers, it’s the difference between a 5 footer with your friends and a 5 footer with a tournament on the line. Always admire those that can perform under pressure.
