Take him about an hour right? $20/hr tax free sounds pretty good to me.

Is it YOUR teenager? If so, let the boy eat.

But I would withhold $20 for taxes, and $20 for insurance since he isn't bonded, $15 environmental fee ($30 if your mower has a battery), $15 for ss/Medicare, $10 union dues, $5 for drinking from the hose.
Net Pay = $15 Life Lesson = invaluable

I'd expect $20 to $40, but good luck finding a teenager to do it at all.
Kind of weird because when I was growing up I couldn't find any odd jobs and these days it seems most kids aren't interested in making money.
Maybe their parents just give them everything and they sit in their bedroom playing on their phones?

when i was a kid, my first 'job' was taking care of my elderly neighbor's yard... didn't get paid much, but it kept me in comic-book and coca-cola money
a good friend's kid has already said he would do it.... don't think he knows what to charge

I haven't seen a teenager cutting grass in decades.
That would be a refreshing thing to see.
As a kid, I cut more grass than the cartel, without sunscreen, eye or ear protection.
It would do the youngins good to get a little dirty and sweaty to see the value of money.
Now, get off my lawn!

to make a little money cutting grass. Turns out he lives 4 houses down from mine. I saw this has a great opportunity to have somebody clear out my severely overgrown flower bed. Kid came by 2-3 times never consistent, never got much done. Sure, it was worse work than just cutting the grass. That is exactly why I didn't keep up with it to start with. Anyway, kid was mostly useless. Glad he finally stopped asking if he could work.
