I was pulling for them to advance. I never suspected they would win it and beat UNC on their home course (recently renovated by alum Davis Love.

Personally, my hopes for the team even getting out of that regional were very low. And knowing the Tarheels had whipped us just shortly prior… wow. These guys just played a tournament for the ages. What a time to get red hot! It’d be crazy if we could play that hot for one more tournament!

Andrew Greaser from unc won top medalist this regional beating Callahan by 4 strokes.
History revisted:
In the 2004 regional that Clemson won ,they won with a team score of -25 as well. The starters for us were:
Matt Hendrix 6-1 Gr. Aiken, SC
Jack Ferguson 5-10 Jr Seneca, SC
Gregg Jones 5-11 Gr. Florence, SC
Stephen Poole 5-9 So. Spartanburg, SC
Brent Delahoussaye 5-8 Jr Greenville, SC
Delahoussaye was a surprise Tiger in that tournament and finished only 4 strokes off the lead. Ironically enough, he lost to wake Forrest's Bill Haas. Kinda crazy how we'll probably go full circle.
We eventually finished 18th nationally. However, who knows what if. Clemson's best golfer on that team was jack Ferguson. Jack developed a bad back but still competed in the regional where he placed 51st. Anyone's guess on where we'd have finished nationally had Jack Ferguson been competitive. His stroke average was 70... crazy good. But we did knock the coots out in that regional. They got knocked out this year in another regional.
Anyway, T_I_P would enjoy that our lady tennis team was denied a chance at the tennis natty when ucla actually upset 😡 us in the semi-finals. Yes, believe it or not, we had great tennis teams then.
In addition to all that, none of us realized that one Dabo C. Swinney would have
three of the top-10 receivers in the conference, a first in Tiger history.
Thanks Coach Byrd. The team made history and made all us Tigers proud.

Congratulations! What a turn around for our new coach. To barely make the tournament and then come back to win the regional is an amazing accomplishment. Let's ride this wave to a great finals.
