No, the Oline class was looking like it might be historic. Probably not going to be as good as we first believed, however I believe in Matt Luke and if a few years I believe we’ll have a legitimate oline.

before we can expect to get alot of these elite High School kids. Jackson Carmen was one that still plays in the pro's as a backup..and thats about it. I guess you could say Tyler Shatley was the other but that was many offensive line's ago and he wasn't recruited as an offensive lineman if I recall correctly. Tristan Leigh? Hopefully he comes into his own here this season.
UGA, Bama, OSU, etc. routinely get these guys b/c their offenses translate over to the NFL offenses. Not to mention they recruit against us using that logic and those numbers. When a kid goes to UGA and they read that list of lineman that are in the NFL and where they were drafted or Bama shows them their list of names that they have put out and then we show our list of the handful that have been to the NFL in the last 15 years then its tough to get them here.
Hopefully Matt Luke not only helps get our guys better but hopefully he's trustworthy enough to tweak our offensive scheme to somehow better translate over to the NFL. If not, then you can try to get these guys but more than likely it aint' gonna happen 85% of the time.

John Simpson signed a 2 year , $12,000,000 contract with the New York Jets, including $3,500,000 signing bonus, $6,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $6,000,000.
But lack of NFL track record at o-line is absolutely what hurts Clemson in o-line recruiting. Luke should help, but I've long contended Clemson should recruit Minn, Nebraska, Iowa, Dakotas, Wisconsin, etc. Clemson, Lake Keowee, the warm weather, and the coeds would be a draw for the farm boys.
UGA, BAMA, LSU, FSU and others in the southeast own Clemson in o-line recruiting. It's the only position we've historically been unable to recruit.

He was a 4 star but i'd put him in a upper echelon get for Clemson at the time bc the coots had pull 2 of the other in state big fish. WE seem to often be mentioned with these 5 star guys but rarely get any. Even when we were tops in the nation in results. Hopefully coach luke will get us on the board with these OL prospects and we can start changing that trend.

McFadden started the final 2 games of rookie season last year. He’s expected to have a larger role this year and some project that he will eventually become their center due to his athleticism. Anchrum played in 17 games last year for the Rams and signed with Seahawks as a free agent. He spent most of 21 and 22 on IR due to different injuries after playing in Rams SB run season rookie year. He was headed to be a starter last year before a late trade. He was also the Rams 2022 nominee for Walter Payton MOY award. Clemson is not as far down the list of OL players in the league like some try to make out. We’re not in that top group but we may very well be in the next level of teams.

Better now than further down the road. I
am sure other schools bring up the look how many offensive linemen Clemson puts in the NFL to young recruits. I think it will be elite but will take some time for Matt Luke to fix what was wrong and get some guys in.
