Clemson #2 in RPI
Clemson #17 in NET.
This NET stuff is screwing us over again. RPI is waaaaaaaaaaaay more accurate.

Well, the NET is what the committee uses now right? Assuming that is what

is used, that's clearly the 'correct' one in that it matters. That said, it's odd if you look down the list and records vs quads on how it lays out. I'm not sure all the inputs from it.

You honestly think Clemson is the #2 team in the country?
This is a good team, probably CBB's best overall top-to-bottom assemblage of players. Certainly top 25 ball at the moment. But #2?
I watched Arizona-Duke game, and don't think Clemson is anywhere close to Arizona at the moment.
#17 NET seems about right. Keep playing well and keep getting better, and they could be a top 10 team.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't rpi a component of the net. I always thought so. Based on rpi alone, we should be #2 in the country? If so, then I would have to say we're not the number 2 team in the country...

The RPI is purely a ratio of wins and losses. We’re undefeated and just added a 7-1 record into the opponents w/l column by beating SCar. The net uses a variety of metrics similar to KenPom’s efficiency rankings. While the NET is supposedly the most important metric to the NCAA the RPI has still be a better predictor of who makes the NCAA field.

I don't know that I'd really worry about Clemson's actual NET ranking. The record versus the teams by NET Quadrant appears to be more important, and Clemson is 3-0 versus Q1 teams now. Clemson had a solid NET ranking in 2018-19 (35) but went 1-10 versus Q1 and was left out:
How are the NET rankings used? Since the NET rankings serve as the primary sorting tool for Division I men's basketball, they play an important role in establishing a team's resume. The men’s and women’s basketball NET rankings and team sheets will be provided publicly on a daily basis on NCAA.com and NCAA.org starting in December.
Using the quadrant system, which was in its fourth season in 2020-21, the quality of wins and losses will be organized based on game location and the opponent's NET ranking.
Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75 Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135 Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240 Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353 The number of Quadrant 1 wins and Quadrant 3/4 losses will be incredibly important when it comes time for NCAA tournament selection and seeding.

It's unfortunate that they seem to change the metric prioritization every other year. If net was a priority metric that season as it is now, we would have nade the tournament.

because it's really obvious that we aren't the 2nd best team in the country.
I'd probably buy anything in the 15-30 range.
